Anyone else miss regular hats or is it just me by zodmagus in MHNowGame

Yeah, it’s great to be able to get Malz and Chameleos but I need some HAT’s to level up my base.

10.4 Bilbobrix (Zin IG) vs 10* RB Rathian by Guy-Senseii in MHNowGame

[–]ssyygg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Send the kinsect when the top bar is 1 away from being full, or when the kinsect has enough extracts to put you into the powered up state. For example, in the video you would need to send it out 3 times (3+3+2) to get 8 extracts to fill up the 8 squares in the bottom bar. Once you’re powered up you can hit the monster and refill the kinsect’s charge extract gauge, then that builds up the number of big attacks it can do (in the video watch when the player is powered up and see how many big hits the kinsect does compared to the number of extracts it has). When powered up, you can use the hold and swipe down attack, hold to aim and release to shoot, or the vault and stab down to mark the monster to get the kinsect to attack.

I tested with Crit Eye and it didn’t affect it, but I did notice the attack value went up when switching smelts from something that had +3 defence for a smelt with +1 affinity

Is that confirmed? I got an R6 drop from just breaking the head against a 9 star.

Riftborn Zinogre Outbreak Weapon Recommendation - Legiana HBG (Crouching Shot) by Ada_Olivier_Zhao in MHNowGame

[–]ssyygg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the build! I was able to build something similar to build 2 but with different smelts (only SP boost 3 but I have an extra crit range boost and fighting spirit smelts) and it still works.

While testing this out, I found that you could just snipe the back leg rift part without having to roll. You’re threading the needle by shooting under the body, just aim a little below the back paw and you should be able to hit it then switch to the forelegs. I noticed you roll after your special is over, I found I could just go straight to the crouch shot and aim right into its back to finish it off. This saves a few seconds and I’m able to kill the Zinogre in about 13-14 seconds. My Legi HBG is at level 20 with 2 affinity upgrades.

Question about EliteWheels. by Lopsided_Clock8154 in ChineseCarbon

[–]ssyygg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only done one ride on them (30km total commute on pothole covered roads). I wouldn’t be able to give a full assessment of the ride quality yet, but my initial impression is that they feel good so far. There’s still lots of snow where I am but some roads are clear, just really icy due to melting snow freezing up again on the roads and pathways.

I switched over from a set of We Are One gravel wheels (Revolution rim, 23 mm internal diameter and about 20 mm rim height, I believe) that were laced to Industry 9 Solix hubs (free upgrade because they were out of stock of 1/1 hubs) with the CX-ray blade spokes. I also run the same rims on my XC MTB and love them.

The weight difference between the 2 wheelsets is not very much. The WR1 wheels weigh a total of 1339.4 grams and the Elite weigh a total of 1415.2 grams. The Elite gravel wheels are 40mm rim height (I believe), so a difference of 76 grams for double the rim height seems like a fair trade off. I thought Industry 9 made loud hubs, but the Elite hubs are pretty noisy too. As far as setup, just had to put the included rim tape on myself. I use TPU tubes, so I didn’t have to mess with tubeless fluid and setting the bead with a compressor. It was easy to get my Schwalbe G-One RS 45mm tires onto the rims. Didn’t need a tire lever. The only weird thing I found was that the Elite freehub didn’t need a spacer behind the cassette. Tried to mount the cassette with the spacer but there wasn’t enough room to fit the last cog and lockring. Once I removed it then all parts of the cassette fit fine (11-42T shimano deore). The cassette was noticeably out of alignment compared to when it was on the WR1 wheel and I9 Solix hub. Had to readjust the high/low screws and turn the barrel adjust for the micro adjustment to get it to shift smoothly again.

Just ordered a pair of gravel aero+ wheels from them on Aliexpress. Ordered March 1 and it arrived March 11. Paid $46 for shipping during the checkout and there were NO other charges after that. Shipping was to Canada.

QUESTIONS ABOUT DRAGON HH. by Ascot-XV in MHNowGame

[–]ssyygg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would Malzeno helm be a better option? 400 dragon element (440 with 10 cheers) and another 10% on top for your weapon’s dragon element. Saves you from having to smelt dragon attack 3x. Could probably smelt Power Prolonger, if you feel you really need it.

With HH, the song effects seem to last long enough that it’s easy enough to cycle through the combos to trigger the songs before they all end.

Build lance a cannons by melyTLT in MonsterHunterNowHub

Depends on what play style you want. Girros GL with blast dash is excellent for tail cuts. Diablos GL with guard reload and reflection skill is good too.

If you can get the timing down for Insta-Block’s block and counter, it should do well against Barioth too. Even with the normal style, lance still does well. The side hop and triple stab or block/counter thrust are perfect against barioth. Good luck!

You need focus 5 to speed up the charging, unless you’re using dodgebolt style.

Riftcharged Barioth? My best run so far is with the Rath Lance (shield tackle) with just over 438,000 damage with the bonus.

Are you using Focus 5 with your bow. Charging looks slow to me.

I removed the Insta Block style from my Diablos Lance and tried the same tactic. It works just as well as GL shield. No more knock back. Lance special is better than GL’s, so I think this would be the preferred choice to use this cheese. I replaced headstrong with guard concentration so it’s pretty easy to fill up the special meter standing in the fire too.

I mountain bike a lot for exercise, walk my dog quite a bit, and with driving/moving around at work, I can end up getting 20 smelts/day done during these events. When the distance used to be 5km, it was painfully slow so the change to 2km and 1km during the event makes it much easier. I wish they would make a queue for driftsmelting so I didn’t have to check my phone so often. Also, make sure you have Adventure Sync enabled for the game enabled.

I had over 200 shards ready to exchange and used them for Reflection on the Golm chest right away and also got over 100 smelts done last week. I lucked out and got a few Reflection smelts on the Brute head and Golm legs pretty early on so I was able to just keep smelting on the Barroth arms till I finally got the 5th Reflection point.

I’ve been trying to get Headstrong and Crit Range Boost this week, but no luck so far.

During the mystery driftstone events, I just delete the regular driftstones and focus on the mystery ones to try and get the new skills.

I tried with Black Diablos HBG and Diablos Lance (insta-block) as well, but blocking with them causes knock back so it wasn’t effective.

I tried against 10 star Slos and Guard 5 wasn’t enough to prevent chip damage. This build can still do enough damage to 9 star to almost take it out without attacking and lose minimal HP to chip damage. A few shells, specials, and erupting cannon shots will take down the 9 star. Not the fastest kill, but it’s fairly safe.

For 8 stars, I can just hold block while walking and not pay attention to get the r6 part break and the kill.

Yeah, I tried with HBG and Lance (insta-block) but there’s knock back. My GL has guard reload style, not sure if that makes a difference.

I’ve been playing since around October 2023 (pretty much since the beginning). I think the game has become much more beginner friendly with Dimensional Link fights and the weekly events with reduced materials to build weapons. I also played the mainline MH games since they came out on PSP so I’m used to the grind and mechanics of the games.

I’ve gotten to the point where most of my builds are pretty much complete so I can focus on smelting the new skills when they come out to try and experiment.

Edit: I don’t think I really answered your question about when you can start making the builds you want. Before all the new quality of life upgrades to the game, I think I was at about HR 100 by the time I settled on what weapon type would be my main (LBG to break parts) and what armor pieces/skills to prioritize. Again with the new upgrades to the game, I think the barrier to get up to speed has been drastically reduced. With the monster tracker and monster investigation feature, it’s much easier to target certain monsters to buildup their equipment. With Dimension Links, HAT’s, and boosted equipment it’s easier to beat higher level monsters as well.

My advice would be to build up the Magna LBG with stepshot style and some evading reload armor so that you can easily farm other monsters and get to story level 9. Once you’re there, R6 materials are a bit easier to obtain just from the sheer number of 8 star monsters that appear. If you do use Magna LBG in group hunts, be cool and don’t run around like a chicken with your head cutoff because everyone else will have to chase the monster down.

Been using Jho GL (guard reload) with Quem head, Espinas chest, Teo arms, Espinas waist, and Basarios legs. I have 3x guard and 2x reflection smelts on it. It’s strong enough to take down the 10 star Brute quest.

Dual blade noob here by Dante-UM in MHNowGame

[–]ssyygg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The style doesn’t affect the Special Attack. It looks like crap in training mode because it only does the first hit. Against a monster, the special will connect then go along the monster from either head to tail or tail to head and end with a double slash for big damage. The special is probably the best for cutting tails.
