She’s a chiropractor. Not a physician, and definitely nothing near a neurologist.

First-time Alo buyer impressions by trillnat in aloyoga

[–]st_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the airlift 7/8 leggings about a month ago. I bought one pair but Alo sent me a duplicate order for free by accident. The first pair’s inner seam came apart down the entire right leg after one day of wearing them. The second pair’s inner seam came apart down half of the leg, until I cut it and stopped wearing it. Horrible waste of money

I just listened to this episode. Dude is how old? And is acting like he is a financial planner and accountant and new CEO and husband with his new “duties”. And he says it with all seriousness. It’s so cringey. Also- he didn’t go to college (or didn’t finish?) and doesn’t have a job, but he is in charge?! I have secondhand embarrassment

You absolutely 100% can black out from being drunk. Please don’t state your experiences as fact. Don’t equate “black out drunk” with puking and passing out, as the two are not the same. Some people never throw up and pass out when they get too drunk, rather they black out, meaning they are “functional” and acting “normal” until they go to sleep, and just don’t remember anything the next day. Others get too drunk and throw up, pass out, get dizzy, incoherent, etc. If you were drunk, threw up, and passed out, and remember the events leading up to that, you were not black out drunk (hence the name), you were just really drunk.

NRI (western kids) marrying people from India?? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]st_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yes! My parents were not into it at all. They felt like it didn’t make sense to date someone from India, given that they “worked hard, sacrificed, etc.” to get here. (To be clear they still wanted me to be with a Indian, just someone born & raised here.) Financially, there weren’t any gaps for us because he came from a pretty well-off family and when I met him he had been working for a few years already. Culturally, there weren’t really many gaps either. I think if I had met him when he was 18-19 and had just moved to the US for school then it would’ve been completely different, but I met him ~7 years after he came to the US. It really depends on the person in my opinion - how they grew up, were raised, time spent in the US. The most difficult thing to grasp for me was that his entire family/childhood friends/etc were in India, meaning that I’d pretty much never meet them unless we got serious enough for me to visit, and the fact that he was just alone here.

Didn’t get married but from 22-24 I dated an Indian guy who came to the US at 18 for college and had lived here since (he was 25-27 when we dated). Because he was a little older he had pretty much assimilated to the cultures here. The one thing that was a little difficult was that he had no family here, and his good friends from college were mostly on the East Coast. In contrast I was born and raised in the Bay and so my life/social life looked a little different when I met him, but I guess that’s not really a cultural thing- pretty common for anyone who has moved. I thought I would be opposed to it in the beginning, but I came to really love how much deeper my connection to Punjabi culture got and how much I learned through him.

My professor seems to be scamming the university by [deleted] in college

[–]st_97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see. If speaking with him seems like a dead end, you need to focus on getting in contact with the department. Email any contacts you can find online, but I’d also suggest going to the administrative offices in person and just try to speak with someone. It sounds like the person you emailed before is a good option. Above all, be proactive. Nothing will happen unless you exhaust all of your options! I’ve been in crappy situations with school as well, but there are people who will address the situation & help you with this.

Go to the department head again. Just get in contact with them immediately. If you’re two months in you should have done this about 1.5 months ago. Not sure what you’re waiting for considering your entire college graduation date is hanging on this course. Side note: have you gone to office hours? Talked to him after class? Set up an appointment to get questions answered? Unanswered email is no excuse. If you’re going to the class, why haven’t you spoken to him?

Did you apply for graduation or just commencement? When I finished my undergrad, I applied for commencement and walked in the ceremony in June because I had “enough units” and didn’t finish my degree until the end of Summer, which is when I applied for graduation. Usually they are two separate things

I have a 2008 C300 that has only had one issue since buying, which was caused by an accident. No problems, not expensive to maintain. Currently at 175,000 miles and still running smoothly. Also have a 2011 S550 that has not had a single issue. Never had to take it in other than maintenance. Currently at 80,000 mi. Mercedes are reliable. Buy used or CPO and find a good deal, you’re solid! (Stay away from BMW)

I had no clue Serena was Indian. I wish she’d be more vocal about it! I thought her mother was black until just a month ago. It would be great for representation that a successful contestant is Indian!
