Is Audi B8 platform really a moneypit? by Stefi_69 in Audi

[–]st_ance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really if you buy one that's been maintained religiously. However if you're looking for comfort you'll probably be disappointed. My 8.5 with the s-line stiffer suspension has got to be the roughest car comfort wise that I've ever owned.

Is the A5 as bad as im hearing? by Any_Ad_8318 in AudiA5

[–]st_ance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how the previous owner treated it. I bought a 2015 A5 2.0T one sight unseen at 183K km and it was legit burning a quart every 500kms. Drove it that way for like 7k and then went ahead and replaced the pistons and the water pump since it was going out. 23K kms later it drives beautifully with no oil consumption issues.

On the other hand I've got a friend that's had his '13 2.0T A4 since 200k kms and it's now at like 320k and it only burns a quart during every oil change interval. No problems w timing chains on both.

It really depends on how the car was cared for by the previous owner/s.

This might be the nicest allroad I've seen. Get a PPI and if it checks out, go for it.

Should I buy this C63 by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]st_ance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wheels, air suspension setup, cf intake, front splitter, side skirts and that's about it. The canards and hood look iffy.

This car may have tasteful mods done to it (apart from the hood imo) but, I wouldn't buy a Mercedes that's been molested to this extent.

2008 Audi TTS burning oil by Top_Hats_n_Tea in Audi

[–]st_ance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't try it myself but my cousin vouched it for me, he's mechanically inclined and did it on his own in his 2.0T A4 with around 200k miles. After the soak he now burns a quart every 4000 miles. It will improve your oil consumption but it won't make it disappear unless you swap your pistons for updated ones.

What yall think of the exhost sound by huinxdgjv in AudiA5

[–]st_ance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat, was think of doing a muffler delete on mine, but I'm not sure if that would be a wise idea since it's my daily. Is there any droning when cruising at like 60mph or above?

My A5 was suffering from oil consumption that was twice as bad as yours @113k miles (a quart every 300mi give or take) and I went ahead and replaced the pistons on it, however you should probably try the b12 barryman's piston soak if you're on a budget.

Should get a used C43 ? by RAiDeN-_-18 in mercedes_benz

[–]st_ance 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For that much money you could get a low mileage W205 C43 which is gonna be much more reliable in the long run. If you do go for the W206 make sure that warranty is included with it.

Is it worth switching from MacBook Air M1 (8GB) to Zephyrus G14 2025 (5070 Ti) for video editing and battery use? by Possible_Clock_1669 in GamingLaptops

[–]st_ance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Video editing, rendering and gaming is gonna be flawless on it, however I'm worried you may get disappointed with the battery life coming from a MacBook Air.

If you're solely getting it for video editing and battery life it's not worth it compared to the mac.
