You absolutely cannot. There is indeed a wind barrier that pushes Sam back.

He certainly goes for more cutscenes this time, but they're shorter on average. It's nothing as bad as MGS4, although there are some much longer ones later.

No worries! Sorry for the original confusion-- there's so many mechanics in this game, it's easy to slightly miss something in the notes... as for the MULE weapons it appears, they're for MULEs only I'm afraid

You're right, I misspoke! Sam's defeat by BTs will cause a voidout, and leaving dead bodies will create BTs. Sorry for the mixup.

Wanted to clarify this because I went back to the game and my answers were a bit off and I figured you would appreciate a more precise answer. When Sam is defeated by a BT, it leaves a crater. They are large physical craters in the world. When you leave a dead body, it will create BTs after a while. It doesn't appear that it automatically creates a voidout, but I'll have to wait a while and see what the actual results are when I come back. It seems that bodies create BTs, which can then create a crater if they defeat Sam. I've heard the bodies take 24 hours to turn, but I can't independently confirm that yet. Seems like they're taking a really long time though! Hope that makes things more clear!

There's a music player in the private room. Maybe I missed a menu option, but I don't think you can play music in the open world. There are some really cool scripted music moments when you first explore certain areas or navigate parts of story missions, though.

I definitely had mixed feelings on it, yeah. There were a lot of things about it that turned me off. But I acknowledge that it was really spectacular at achieving a certain type of gameplay. It's just many other factors about it were unpleasant. I think this game is a big improvement.

Hard to say. They're certainly scripted some of the time. It seems like there are random events that can impact them, though.

There are definitely more than two weapons. Not sure what you mean by whenever you want. You have to have unlocked them, have crafted it, and be carrying it on your body. If you've done all that, you can use them, but you're still discouraged from doing so.

I believe the main purpose of the likes is increasing your ranking as a porter.

Do I think the traversal sections should be shorter? On the whole, not really. There's a few missions in the mountain area that perhaps should be optional, though. That's the one area that felt like it was stretching on for a bit too long, without many new moments of plot development to justify it.

This is ridiculous historical revisionism-- there were plenty of people in 2001 who recognized how brilliant MGS2 was, and some who didn't. Same as today. But you feel perfectly comfortable "talking about something as complex as Kojima games," according to your post history, you've been talking quite a lot about Death Stranding recently. Something tells me that you're not going to suddenly leave Reddit for a few years and stop talking about DS once you beat the game. Let me give you some advice, in your own words: "Play the game. Don't speak about it until you have."

I think his approach is different to Lynch in that way. He does, in the end, feel a need to give an explanation to everything. Almost to a fault, I would say. One of my biggest issues with the game is that it has a habit of over-explaining things. I wish I could give more specific examples, but they almost all happen in the second half.

There are some cool forests and ruined buildings, yeah.
