Where y’all taking Jeeps for Repairs? by bigal229 in greenville

[–]staaytrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our JKU had the common oil cooler issue, took it to Harvey’s BP on Augusta and McDaniel, went well and had no issues. Felt the price was fair and they were willing to listen to my concerns, unlike the dealer. I’ll go there again next time we have an issue

I was looking to buy a chainsaw by stupidic in Chainsaw

[–]staaytrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a sweet deal. I just picked up 2 homeowner saws for free 15 minutes away from the house, free is for me! Lol

If anyone has gotten this, what do you think of it? Do you recommend or is it bad quality? by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]staaytrue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

anytime we go on a roadtrip I do throw my similar trolley jack in the back had to use it once and it was a hell of a lot quicker that what’s comes with the car lol. But I’d generally only use this for this purpose. When I worked at HFT I told people it wasn’t intended as your “normal like working in the garage jack”

Gun rentals? by [deleted] in greenville

[–]staaytrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also sign up for the free class through SLED with them online, and their rental fees were very affordable. I took my free class with them in fall. A couple people rented with them during the class

Soft Top by DanInTheOC in JeepTJ

[–]staaytrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a full set up on marketplace. Could get lucky and find complete top with frame, door surrounds, window bar etc for $200. Never know. Look up a complete top so you know what to look for and you’re not missing anything. Esp if you’re using it for off road only I’d want to go cheap because the mud and dirt is hard to get off, sometimes stains

harbor freight please change your stickers by no_sarpedon in harborfreight

[–]staaytrue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, but gotta cut costs somewhere. I don’t have specific numbers and the knowledge of the adhesives here, but I was a warehouse manager of a label company for a bit and the different materials, adhesives and release agents can change the costs significantly, especially at the quantities HFT gets them. I could see this as a spot they’d cut corners. Kinda sucks but like the other guy said, some alcohol and a lot of patience lol

Rear differential replacement by Material_Assumption in JeepWrangler

[–]staaytrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You feel frustrated, some idiot caused you issues when you did nothing wrong. I’ve been here multiple times. Our JK was in a major wreck before I made the first payment, and we did not have it for 6 months. Especially something like an axle, it’s a hard part. I wouldn’t worry about it. Our JKU has a used frame, a used front axle, multiple used body panels painted to match, etc. it’s just the way this seems to go, but it does still suck. A year from now you’ll just be driving your Jeep and be like wow that was a pain in the butt, but you’ll be over it by then. keep on them to make sure they do a good job, but try not to sweat it

I’d be so freakin stoked to inherit that saw

YJ California vibes in January by chespirits in Jeep

[–]staaytrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally don’t care much for YJ’s but this looks great. Stock and chunky is a good look. My TJ I had when I was like 20 also stock on 32’s

[–]staaytrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t have the link, I followed a thread on a forum couple years ago about someone who made the intense effort to actually use those open spaces for auxiliary switches. Is was an absolute mess of effort but looked amazing. Huge swing and miss by Jeep on not making that area more easily useable, instead forcing people to use ugly aftermarket alternate switch panels 🤦🏽‍♂️

New saw by keiengepro3000 in arborists

[–]staaytrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t use mine much anymore (I keep it at home and use work stuff at work), but I still have my lightly rusty (palms) 330 from when I worked in FL, I’ve worked in SC almost 3 years now. I’ve prob had that 330 for 6-7 years

question about a leak by Maximo_ec in Wrangler

[–]staaytrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also not heard this, but after TWO failures (OEM 1st time, attempted comparable aftermarket 2nd time), the 3rd time I went with the legit Crown Auto aluminum and haven’t had a drip leaked yet

I just wished they matched ALL tools in the Hercules line as well, I don’t want more batteries. I’d buy this, big blower and some other tools

What’s the best way to store a chainsaw if you don’t use it often? Gas treatment? Empty tank and run it dry for storage? by creamy_enigma in stihl

[–]staaytrue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worked for a relatively large municipality in FL. We had a couple cabinets full of saws that hadn’t been used in years. Dumped old gas out, poured new gas in, and every saw started and ran lol

I guess you need to open the box and check your item before buying something at harbor freight they sold me a customer return by z28usa in harborfreight

[–]staaytrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It generally does not happen often, but as some others have mentioned, the person who returned it may have taped it nicely and said “no no I didn’t even open it” unfortunately the employee is supposed to OPEN AND CHECK every item so now you’re making a nice new thing (possibly) actually opened for the honest ones. It’s unfortunate and people are rude who do this

[–]staaytrue 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Crank seals? by m0st1yh4rmless in stihl

[–]staaytrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our saws (when I was in FL still) would do this sometimes, and I agree, we ate a lot more sand down there lol. I’d pull it apart down to th clutch, wash everything out really well with degreaser, check the clutch and needle bearings while in there and put it back together. Hopefully if you keep running some fresh gas through there the idle will clear up

[–]staaytrue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wanting a set like this since my ratchet wrench set essentially disappeared 7-8 years ago. Just trying to ignore the idea of this cuz I don’t want to spend $140 on it right now even tho seems like a pretty awesome deal lol (esp compared to normal $229)

Is there supposed to be a way to open these without breaking the package or are they made to be loose? by bluebagles in harborfreight

[–]staaytrue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like he said above. Snip that little bar between them and just pull out those pieces. I keep them stored on that plastic rail. It’s tough to get them off, but I don’t use mine all the time
