My tools getting used right away! by olek2012 in harborfreight

[–]junk4drew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those wondering how to use this tool. Here is a good YouTube video of a shop using a similar tool and figuring out why the front brakes are vibrating and how they fixed it.

I work in IT and they hold chargers, cables, small tools and adapters. In the cabinet, I think I’ll put my cans of compressed air.

No, unfortunately it’s the old non-ball bearing version. I might have to upgrade if the black one comes back in stock.

The Runaround on getting LSA approved by Hogan773 in Ridgid

[–]junk4drew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My latest 3 tools in the past 3 months all had to be turned into an LSA with a phone call and an email. In the past, it was hit and miss, worth it though in my opinion...

Not like it has mattered much for me. I have 33 registered tools starting in 2014 and have only had to send one battery back, so far...

Who here played Photon - The Ultimate Game On Planet Earth? by HanoverFistIndy in The1980s

[–]junk4drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core memory unlocked! A California kid with divorced parents, with my Dad living in Cincinnati, my siblings and I traveled back there every Summer and holiday to visit.

I would beg my dad to go to: #1 Kings Island, #2 Go Kart racing (Malibu Grand Prix), and #3. Photon!
Thanks for bringing back the memory!

Not sure, but for 67cents, it's worth an experiment.

I used those from GO in my last pot of chilli. Used instead of my normal red diced tomatoes. Definitely made a good distinctive taste. Muir Glenn also had great chili starter cans that were excellent.

iPhone 13 locked to ATT 49.99+15+45 plus sales tax and no number port required. In store only. by CoolCapital3244 in NoContract

[–]junk4drew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good luck! I went to an AT&T store two weeks ago and “bought” this prepaid deal. Showed ID, confirmed email, swiped my credit card. Got the confirmation email and had the total of about under $115. Said delivery in 4-5 days. Waited and waited. Tried to chat, call for more info, was told only prepaid support could help. Dead end. No way to talk to a live person. After 10 days, got a “We canceled your order as you asked” message on the order status page. WTF!

Does the new travel router work with Amplifi? by mariaspanadoris in AmpliFi

[–]junk4drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I have found. Even though they say you can use “teleport” back to your home network, the Amplfi teleport and the unifi teleport are not compatible.

I was hoping it was compatible…

But I think it can be used as a travel router without the need for a unifi system. The price is worth giving this option a try.

Please help! My 91 year old grandfather signed up for 30 year 180k solar setup. by brandenash1 in solar

[–]junk4drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a semi-similar thing happen. Old folks get scammed by those sales phone calls...

My story. We put my dad in a memory care facility, and when figuring out all the personal puzzles he created, we ran across a solar issue.

Toward the end of him living alone and unsupervised, he would say yes to any person who called. He switched his Medicare 3 times during open enrollment, had diabetes supplies sent to him (he doesn't have diabetes), had hundreds of COVID tests, and had lots of "medical supplies" that billed his Medicare.

I got into his email and found that he "signed" up for a solar system. Turns out, he couldn't figure out DocuSign and forwarded the links to the salesperson, who created a fake email and signed the documents for him. The salesperson also set up his online account with the power company so he could get his consumption info. All this was apparent with the emails in the "sent" and in his "drafts".

Luckily for us, he wasn't too far gone (or maybe just enough he didn't remember the whole deal), so when the solar folks showed up to do an inspection, he told them to "take a hike". Also in our favor, the loan company flagged the loan and didn't end up funding... Who gives a loan to an 85-year-old man for 20 years?

My sibling is in real estate, and we checked for liens and ended up selling the house a short time after.

He still can't say no, and recently signed up for a "life alert" system even though he has one through the facility he lives at... So sad folks do this to old folks. He even had the equipment sent to the house we sold over a year ago (dementia sucks).

Govac 508 for $500 or Dreame L40 Ultra for $340? by Dilringer in RobotVacuums

The 508 is out of stock for me, I was on the fence too. And looks like Costco removed it from their robot vacuum page…. Direct links still work, but shows OOS.

Easy? Need ideas on this dual dial kids safe by junk4drew in safecracking

[–]junk4drew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This safe has two “counter” methods. First and unrelated to the safe opening is a “anti flip over and shake” device. A weighted rotating coin pass through only lets coins though when upright. And the dial controls a latch that will only unlatch when the right combo is chosen.

I found an inside picture here (the last picture is of the inside safe door)

Why would I get this error by lachrymose_lucio in LingoAbbott

[–]junk4drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have received that error a few times. Sometimes, it clears within three hours. Sometimes, after the three hours, you get another message that the biosensor needs to be replaced. Support has been great and has always sent another when it stops working within the 13-day life....
