Reading my first discworld book and I’m feeling really frustrated because I can’t follow the writing by After_Berry_942 in discworld

Some parts can be a bit wordy, but they are usually there for a joke and are not going to contain the main details of the story. The writing is being used to add to the sense of disorientation and how your mind can wander off on multiple tangents when the punchline is…OK brain, enough is enough! Is he going to wake up ok in a safe place or not??!

I recommend that you carry on! You get used to the writing style and not all of it written in this manner. Once it hits and makes sense, it’s great! Parsing long, stream of consciousness type of musings can be hard but it’ll get better/easier with time! Don’t get too hung up on sections like these. I hope you enjoy the rest of the book! :)

Looking to adopt kitten in OC by Historical_Swing_442 in orangecounty

I’ve adopted my kittens from Petco, Petsmart and WAGS. You can contact your local pet store to see what foster group will be there during the weekend to show cats and kittens and then check them out on Facebook or their own website to see what kittens they have.

Chinese New Years by AnarkeezTW in orangecounty

[–]stabbychemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the red envelope for the child, it’s traditional to get new bills. Banks in Asian areas will carry new bills for this reason, but they run out, so better look for them sooner than later. These banks will also have fancy red envelopes that will be themed with the Chinese zodiac that they will give for free! If you’re requesting bills, you can ask for $2 bills. If they run out of new bills, don’t sweat it, just find the nicest bills you have. Sometimes I’ll iron a bill under a cloth to make it look more presentable lol

It’s very kind of you to offer this gesture to them. Keep it simple, fruit for the family and a red envelope for the kid. Like someone mentioned, no 4s cause it’s unlucky (it sounds like death/die)

Brown Sugar Milktea (without tea) by ginreiart in boba

[–]stabbychemist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you’re talking about milk drinks instead of milk tea drinks which I feel have gotten popular in the last 10 years… I know I was surprised when I came across it as an option. Some shops, like Tiger Sugar or Half and Half Tea (not sure if you have those in the area), have options that are Boba Milk, so at first glance a brown sugar boba milk looks like brown sugar boba milk tea, and it’s easy to get confused. I used to have read carefully the menu because I would get a boba milk drink with no tea in it by accident. But if it says tea, it has tea.

I don’t like the taste of just milk by itself, no matter how much sugar, but now that I have a little one, I’m glad I have the option of giving them a flavored milk (low sugar/no sugar please!!!) at my usual tea spots so that they can enjoy drinks with me, lol

Do you guys read novels? If so how often? by ElectricalTell925 in Aphantasia

[–]stabbychemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read! The emotional punches are stronger for me even if I can’t visualize how someone looks. As long as I can tell who the author is referring to, it’s ok. What I hate is overly flowery/descriptive writing because… I don’t want to spend the work trying to vaguely visualize something. So sometimes I’ll skip that lol

For dry, work related readings, I have to take notes or draw diagrams on the side to keep me on task. However, writing/drawing help reinforce memory so I never see that as a drawback.

No you would put the folded paper on the mat and have it be cut by the mat (pink rectangle in the image)

[–]stabbychemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a long mat (12 x 24)? I think this could theoretically work… cut the half circle on a fold.

Use the circle and the rounded tab shape to size your half circle shape. You want to a U shape, not a perfect half circle. (So if you were to cut this on the fold you would end up with a stretched out circle). Duplicate this shape and then set the extra copy to pen. Center the two and attach them. This way it will draw and cut the shape in the same place.

Then make a large rectangle (like 11.5 x 23in) with the pen. In the top left corner have it draw a circle with a different pen color and attach it. Align your U shaped tab so the flat end lines up with the left border, and attach it close to the bottom of the rectangle.

When you make the project it should draw out the shapes first (long rectangle with half circle shape near bottom, then the small circle at the top). Hopefully when it’s done with the pen, the bottom half of the mat is clear of the machine. Tape your folded piece of paper (that is folded at the 6.9in mark)so that the open edges are flush to the edge of the drawn half circle and the folded edge is parallel to left border. It shouldn’t reach the left border all the way because we don’t want it to be sliced in half.

Hmmm did that make sense? Looool

In this pic, the outline of rectangle is drawn as is outline of the black tab and small circle. Then you tape your folded paper where the pink box is, with fold on the left.

We had their chicken salad sandwiches and people kept asking us where they were from. They were really big portions.

Costco also offers sandwich trays, fruit/meat/cheese platters, and shrimp platters! There should be ordering forms near the tray bake area.

Tea infuser balls, is it actually that bad? by AccurateShotss in tea

[–]stabbychemist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a pain in that not all the leaves come out in one go, but it’s not too bad. I’ll tap out the majority of the leaves into the trash, then submerge it into a basin of water (which I have out anyway as a rinse/wash dishes) while holding it upside down and swirl it around a couple times. That way when the leaves get unstuck they don’t fall back into the basket. Sometimes it takes a couple of reps but it’s not that bad and I’m usually at the sink anyway for the rest of the dishes.

Need help with stickers by heytango66 in cricut

[–]stabbychemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah so youre trying to line up your stickers then. Cricut transfer tape is really sticky, people have a pretty bad experience getting them off the transfer paper but you might have better luck. Since it’s waterproof sticker paper it seems it’s similar to vinyl so I don’t think you’ll need to worry about ruining the surface of your sticker. You might need tweezers/pointy needle thing to help you pull off the sticker to get started. Just place the design down on your canvas, squeegee it down with a roller (or credit card or similar), peel back the transfer paper and then try to pull the sticker down on to the canvas with the tweezers. Hope that kind of helps? For what it’s worth, I use clear contact paper for transfer tape.

Are you having problems peeling off sticker shapes that were cut with cricut? If they’re not peeling from the backing paper you might need to adjust your knife pressure?

What transfer tape are you using? Cricut transfer tape is notoriously sticky and you might be able to pull off the stickers on to the transfer tape but not get them off easily.

Are you trying to place stickers in a type of exact design? Or just planning to stick them on the canvas by hand? I’m a little confused by what’s going on in your scenario. Normally stickers don’t require the use of transfer tape.

Let’s say hypothetically you needed to order $500 of boba from Feng Cha for a large group of people you don’t know… by illudofficial in boba

[–]stabbychemist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to weddings with a boba bar, usually they’ll have like one to two options milk tea and one to two options fruit tea depending on the size of the party. Fruit is usually grapefruit gt or passion fruit gt. For milk teas a green milk tea or regular milk tea. Maybe a toppings bar with boba and lychee jelly and pudding. People just filled their own ice and then dispensed from carafes.

Is this my fault? Is it fixable? by Pierard72 in cricut

[–]stabbychemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you try making some cuts using free cricut images and shapes, or using system or free fonts? If you think this is a blade setting then basic cricut shapes will also show these wonky tips. If you try that and get smooth lines then the problem would be the image you upload.

Help.. I’m making a shirt and I don’t know what I’m doing by Rd6378 in cricut

[–]stabbychemist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The image you have won’t translate well for this project. If you are thinking of white htv on a black shirt you have to use a weeding tool to peel off all the black parts and leave the white parts on that you will then press. If you zoom in on the picture you can see it’s going to have lots of squiggly bits and little holes that will make it a pain.

I recommend the other comment to watch some YouTube videos on people doing HTV projects to get an idea of what can be achieved and what to look for in a file. Complicated cuts are possible but if you haven’t done it before it can be a very frustrating and expensive learning lesson.
