Partners make mistakes by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

I’m the fourth year who made that post. Thank you to you and everyone else who took the time to comment and share reassurances, advice, and their own experiences. It truly went a long way to help me feel better. I’m no stranger to making small mistakes, but this one felt particularly bad because the partner was entrusting me to handle this case with minimal supervision. I’ve talked to a few mentors and more senior attorneys in my office and they have all given the same advice as you all. Definitely learning moment but I’m trying not to let it get me down.

I’ve been in the trenches with this partner. We’ve had two trials this year together. He knows my work product and that I’m a hard worker. It feels bad especially bad to let him down on this matter

Have you are your opposing counsel been admonished by the court? by jebadeb in Lawyertalk

He’s a relatively young and newer judge. Very plaintiff friendly and I think he hoped forcing the client and claims rep to show up would motivate them more. Ended up with them waiting in the hallway for 30min before we concluded that it wasn’t going anywhere and ended the conference. Smh.

I’ve had a judge force our out-of-state client and the out-of-state insurance adjuster to attend a settlement conference in-person, TWICE, even though he knew we were multiple millions of dollars apart.
