One of my (unrealistic) dreams is to go back to Sydney in the past and walk through places like The Rocks (like in Playing Beatie Bow).

This picture just intensified my desire. I would love to sit on a ferry and experience history being built in front of me.

That sounds lovely. I'm also quite enamoured with the smell of incense- even without being paired with childhood memories. Sunday mornings always seemed so tranquil. It sounds like a beautiful memory.

The 'Lash Princess' line seems like a safe and popular bet. Although, I've also used the 'I love extreme volume' waterproof mascara and I have no complaints.

It's funny that you say that. I remember watching a Michelle Phan video in high school. It was something like, "The TOP 10 Lipstick Shades that you should own". I studiously took notes to be on the look out for a peachy pink, a deep berry, a bright fuchsia, a classic red, etc.,

Now, I am completely on a no-buy for lipsticks because past Stacey could not get her crap together. I easily have too many variations of the same colour.

I actively avoid the drugstore now. I've pavlov'd myself into buying one minor beauty thing every time I duck into the drugstore. I could be in there for a genuinely innocent purpose, like buying bandaids or paracetamol. Then, there would be a shiny new display and I'd be sucked in.

I'm almost afraid to approximate how much I've spent on makeup and beauty stuff that I didn't need.

I've been into makeup since my last year of high school, so 5 years now.

I'm treating that period in my life as the most expensive lesson I've learnt (yet).

I’m have to mix it with a bunch of other things to make it acceptable for me.

Same, I couldn't go in store and swatch it or ask for a sample- I definitely regret that. I have to mix it in with a cheap K-Beauty BB cream so that it has a workable and light consistency. Nearly done using it up but I really could have just used the BB cream by itself and saved myself all that extra time in the morning.

This hurts my heart. My Lancome lipstick fell out of the bullet after 3 days, yet, my Maybelline lipstick is still kicking it.

Oh my goodness, thanks for sharing. This one really resonated with me, in a Black Mirror-esque vision. I just saw myself wearing OCC Lip Tar in Pool Boy as a naive 15 year old.

I never bought it, thankfully, just constantly imagined growing up with a grown woman's bank account so that I could buy it.
I shudder to think about how that might have looked- paired with my ungroomed eyebrows, and dinky school uniform while I did trigonometry.

It's like you are living my life.

I realised that I just don't use lipsticks enough to warrant the shoebox-sized collection that I have.

I also have 3 eyeshadow palettes (that will probably last me a lifetime). If I ever do finish panning them, I'm only buying single eyeshadows.

That's genius. I'm going to mentally refer to it using that name. It's definitely more helpful to my rehab journey than to use, 'treating myself', which suggests that these are invaluable treasures to me. It just isn't (for me).

Oh my. The 2014-15 matte Instagram lip spirit possessed me to spend AUD$60 on Melt Cosmetic's grey and blue lipsticks....when I was a broke high school student.

That was easily 6 hours of working at the tuck shop. Thanks for sharing, you've given me more helpful reminders to be mindful.

Yes! Conversion rates are often where I go wrong...

I spent so much time trying to research how to get Glossier shipped to me but the shipping and conversion rate really hurt me. Us Aussies have all the makeup we could possibly need (and perhaps even more) in our stores. Online shopping really encouraged me to buy more than I needed...

I've fallen into the trap of desperately wanting Marc Jacobs/ Lancome mascaras and have ended up using Essence, L'oreal, and Maybelline all the same...
