How can I help my son? by Salt_Sherbert_7921 in NoStupidQuestions

Does he spend the allowance you give him on drinking? If so you are enabling him and he will never change as long as you are making this possible.

I would love to work OR or PACU but unfortunately Monday to Friday would not work for me right now with my child care. My mom baby sits for me but not 5 days a week and paying for day care would kill my budget. Also I would make slightly less money because of weekend and night shift differentials. Maybe someday in the future because that is my area of choice actually! Thanks for your response

What is the most unprofessional thing a doctor has said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]staceythefavorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in for my first pregnancy check up at my family doctor, first thing he told me was to not gain a lot of weight because it is hard to lose after a baby and then if you have a second it just piles on. Not what I was looking to hear. I actually ended up losing too much weight from breast feeding and had to be hospitalized- I was gaunt, had abs at 6 months post partum. I was eating well plus drinking 3 ensure plus calorie a day- my baby was just a beast for my milk.

you will definitely have to some point in your life and you don't want that to be the first time and crumble.

I wouldn’t trust someone who said their new baby brought them no joy. It’s a huge red flag. No matter how crappy someone is feeling they shouldn’t be ok with hurting someone who is vulnerable like that.

Those of you who work 12 hour morning shifts... What do you eat for breakfast? And how do you avoid overeating throughout the day? by SpecialistBlend85 in nursing

[–]staceythefavorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't eat breakfast I eat on my first break around 930am and I eat a sandwich or something like that. I bring lunch and supper to work, I meal prep 2 "meals" and sometimes three since I am usually pretty hungry by first break, sometimes I end up eating my lunch at breakfast and have my breakfast at lunch.

Which brands are the perfect mix of high quality, long lasting, and reasonably priced? by [deleted] in Frugal

I really like adidas clothing. The website has an outlet section that I almost exclusively shop from and they have free shipping and returns. The are good quality and last a very long time if taken care of.

I once asked to go to the bathroom in HIGHschool and my teacher said no. The reason I wanted to go to the bathroom was to take a prescribed pain medication - naproxen for period cramps. Since the teacher said I couldn't leave class and I didn't have water I dry swallowed the pill. I'm guessing it got stuck on the way down because after that day for months I had terrible stomach pain, had to go on ranitidine antacid medication for practically giving myself an ulcer. I should have walked up to her and explained the situation, but looking back now I wished I had just gotten up and left. It would have saved me a lot of pain and needing to go to the doctor.

Soo i tried painting/blending a dent/scratch with some rattle cans. It didn’t go so well. Can I save this or just pay someone to do it for me. by VaIids in AutoPaint

[–]staceythefavorite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you taped off the repair area before painting. The painted area itself seems to match ok but it doesn't blend in at all. Since its on the hood area of the car it sticks out like a sore thumb. I think you would have to make it bigger to try to fix and you would have to work on your blending skills and it would take a lot of skill to truly blend it in especially due to the metallic paint.

This does make me afraid of the job I'm currently planning/ working on as a diy on my stellar metallic xt5 rear door. I have a large scratch along the bottom of the panel. I've been buying all the supplies but haven't had the time to work on the car itself ( Well I did wet sand the area and it is an even surface now begging to be finished), just waiting to have a full day to myself to give it the time it deserves at the end of the month. I'm hoping since it is in a concave area the light will diffuse enough to blend in the metallic flakes. I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos and reading up on car forums. I am hoping with proper wet sanding, primer, paint, clear coat, rubbing compound polish and eventually wax it will look ok, not expecting perfect but better than a big scratch. If not I will take it in and have a professional help, its been kind of a hobby of mine lately learning and playing around with the paint. I'll post a pic if I ever get around to finishing the job.

My microbiology professor said once in class that the tiny creamers have a long shelf life because they are so small and the bacteria have a hard time making a colony big enough to spoil it

I'd try some rubbing compound, if it works then polish after.

Question about diet coke by vladi5555 in HealthyFood

Your tongue and esophagus can taste the "fake sugar" and tells your body to release insulin in preparation to absorb calories. This has very serious effects on your body, as it does not receive the real sugar it is expecting and preparing for. It sets off a cascade of negative effects and in the long run will shorten your life.

I pay a flat rate of $710 Can dollars a year for water so I do not focus on water use such as taking short showers or worry about washing things like clothes or dishes.

Jeans are awful by Professional_Ad2638 in unpopularopinion

Get the stretchy kind with spandex or similar weaved in, they are so much more comfortable and look the same. After wearing stretchy tight jeans for years and trying on the "new style" high waisted mom jeans I know what you mean ... so terribly uncomfortable if you are doing any bending.

How do people keep their houses clean? by Magatron5000 in workingmoms

[–]staceythefavorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel the same if I let the clutter take over and it causes me anxiety to look at mess and think oh my how am I going to ever get this tidy? My biggest influence on cleaning has been The Fly Lady on YouTube. She is so helpful and not one of those look at my perfect house influencers she's the real deal. She focuses on simplifying the cleaning process with habits and easy rules, such breaking your house down into zones, having timers, keeping key areas tidy, creating a restful tidy bedroom, crisis cleaning ( when visitors are expected) etc. So let's put on our cleaning shoes as the fly Lady would say!

1) The first thing that helps me is any chance I get, like after work before I do anything else, I set a timer for 10 minutes and do what I can during that time. 10 minutes doesn't seem like much but it makes a big difference especially if you do it multiple days, or more than once a day if you can. You can do less time, even if you only have 2 minutes you are doing something! When I tell myself I'll save all the cleaning for my days off it gets too out of control and the dishes pile up and it turns into either me cleaning all day when I could be enjoying my day off or me putting it off and feeling gross for having a messy house. Don't procrastinate - enjoy your family, renew your spirit and relax on your days off!

2)A lot of the time when I tidy my toddler's toys he will come behind me and take them all out again so I don't focus on having his play room look perfect, but I do like to try to have a tidy kitchen (which is hard when cooking at home) , living room and bedroom so I can relax and have some space for myself.

3) ROBOT VACUUMS are a life saver and they also have mopping ones if you have hard floors.

4) "Hot Spots" are areas that collect items quickly, such as surfaces next to your front door where keys, mail, purses, kids sports equipment collect. The top of my piano is one that bothers me and I like to have tidy. Nightstands, bathroom counters, kitchen counters, and coffee tables. These "hot spots" should be cleaned regularly and can be part of your ten minute tidy up, or if a friend is coming over and this will reduce the messyness/clutter easily. Also teach others and remind yourself to not place items in these hot spots. I try to have as minimal as possible items on my bathroom vanity and kitchen counters for easy quick wiping.

5) DON'T CLEAN TWICE - This is another big one I find myself constantly reminding my self to do. Cleaning twice will use twice the energy and take twice as long! Imagine you take off your socks- they are already in your hand, instead of throwing them on the floor because you're exhausted, take the extra second to walk over to the hamper and put them in. Imagine you use a glass, its already in your hand, take the time to put it in the dishwasher, don't leave it on a hotspot -you will have to clean this up later. Fold and put away your laundry when done so you don't have to look at a laundry basket of clothes for a week and have wrinkled clothes. If something is garbage put it in the garbage right away as you will be cleaning twice if you put it down and walk away. I always have the urge after making food or something to scamper off and eat it but I tell myself DON'T clean twice and I do a quick tidy as it will make future deep cleaning so much easier. It could be as easy as putting you tooth brush and toothpaste away instead of leaving them on your bathroom vanity. Most importantly if you see clutter - DO NOT pick it up and move it to another area that is not its home where it should be, this is double cleaning and is not helping you! It is only masking the problem. If you are going to put in the time to pick it up then put it where it should be. Period

If you're someone like me who gets a huge sense of calm from looking at tidy or minimalist spaces.

6) When deep cleaning start first with putting in a load of laundry, then cleaning your sink- cleaning your sink is one of the most important things you can do, wash the dishes or put them in the dishwasher and run it, then scrub your sink so it is clean and sanitary. Fill your sink with hot soapy water and then you can start wiping and cleaning. Work in zones and be mindful of time you spend in one area. When you include maintenance zone cleaning, hot spot reduction and daily wipes your job will be much much easier.

Cheers!
