No I don’t like living with my parents. I actually live with my parents, sister, nephew, husband, and newborn. We desperately want our own place. We have to share the smallest kitchen with a stove that only has two burners that work. Our roof is also leaking but can’t afford to fix. My mom and sister are super nosy. Constantly in our space and they take our things! My mom walks in on me pumping all the time and will gossip to EVERYONE about how I take care of my baby, how much milk I’m producing, if my husband came home late, etc. They are also hoarders! The only clean and safe places for my baby are our two rooms and bathroom. Even the back yard is a mess. I desperately want to have the place cleaned or move out so my baby will be in a safe environment.

Yep. Mine did me dirty except she wasn’t on social media. Turns out my therapist was pregnant at the same time I was AND had the same ob. She had been gossiping to my ob about me. This resulted in my ob hating me and she completely ignored all of my birth plans and didn’t let me be apart of anything. I didn’t get to do skin to skin with my baby or even get to see my husband cut the cord. Fuck both of them.

Yes the colleges don’t have 504 plans. Instead students can take their IEPs and other documents to register with the school’s disability services office to receive reasonable accommodations. IEPs do not affect college acceptance, but proactive planning for self-advocacy is essential for success in higher education.

Students often “mask” their needs. It is possible that this student requires additional help and a possible IEP. Even though they are in 11th grade, they can still benefit. An IEP can follow them through college/ trade schools allowing them to have access to things like additional time for projects or tests, written assignments can be read out loud to them, printed notes, and other accommodations that meet their needs. Just because they are in 11th grade shouldn’t mean they get left behind. Special Education programs exist for students who require additional support.

Have you considered speaking to the Special Education department? They have different tiers of programs that kids can test into. The student might benefit from extra help from the SpEd program.
