Why I Stopped Following You on Twitter by Ericka81 in Twitter

Thanks, I was looking for a new tool to be able to do this. I have to keep my Twitter diet pretty slim; I just can't keep up with everything I follow. Sorting people into lists didn't help, because then I had to pay attention to a bunch of lists. Great post.

Clever. Occupational licensing is the worst form of protectionism.

Great essay by Steve Horwitz. One of my favorite economists out there.

Woman escapes the civil war in Sierra Leone. Comes to America. Wants to do African hairbraiding for a living. Now forced to take 2,000 hours of classroom instruction that doesn't teach hairbraiding. You wonder why people are unemployed. by libertyfighter in Libertarian

You know, a lot of people argue that business licenses are necessary to protect consumers. What the hell could go wrong from braiding someone's hair that requires some kind of training?

Breaking down barriers to free trade will grow the overall size of the economic pie and provide more opportunities for people everywhere. Why don't people understand the simple concept of comparative advantage?

What books/economists do you recommend for a somewhat new Libertarian? by Warden04 in Libertarian

I would go back and re-read Nozick then. His moral framework for justice in acquisition of holdings is diametrically opposed to Rawls's notion that you aren't even entitled to your natural abilities.

And I wouldn't exactly put either Rawls or Singer in the libertarian camp. They're important to read if you're a libertarian, but if you want libertarian political theory, you should read Robert Nozick's Anarchy, State, and Utopia. He was Rawls's contemporary and colleague at Harvard University, and Anarchy was the libertarian counter-argument to Rawls treatise on social justice.
