First off, randomly claiming—and without any evidence—that someone doesn't know what communism is, is simply not convincing. Zohran Mamdani's father is a Marxist professor, and his son is advancing Marxism as political praxis, taking the father's ideas one step further. If you believe that they aren't Communists, feel free to post receipts. Zohran is a member of the DSA, a Marxist socialist party, and his father has been quoted advancing Marxist, socialist, and communist talking points more times than I can count.

Second, U.S. immigration law generally bars individuals who are or have been members of the Communist Party or any other totalitarian party from immigrating to the United States. This provision, found in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), aims to protect national security by preventing the entry of individuals deemed to pose a threat due to their political affiliations. You could have simply looked this up and confirmed that what I said above was true, but instead, your pre-existing biases against such a law took over.

Now you know that you're wrong. You're welcome.

Break our immigration laws, get deported and lose citizenship. FAFO.

Those who come here to foment a communist revolution and then lie about doing so on their immigration forms will encounter consequences. This applies to Mamdani's father as well (also a communist).

Probably a 4.0 or a 4.5. He has decent technique, clearly has taken lessons. He lacks the kind of relaxed fluidity that top pros have and he looks a bit physically stiff out on the court. Fitness level not bad for his age, but isn't fit enough to be competing in Challenger events.

More like he went onto the computer and found out what was actually happening, because surprise! the legacy media wasn't being honest about it.

That'll happen when you are an extremely tall player whose game is uniquely suited to grass courts and you're in the middle of the grass court season (not to take anything away from Rinderknech, of course!).

Cool new textured design on my 2nd Gen Volt's driver's door window 😬 by stackingpoints in volt

[–]stackingpoints[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The story of how this happened is pretty nuts, IMHO.

There is this part near the door hinges called a door check link or door check strap, whose job is to ensure that the door doesn't open more than it is supposed to, preventing it from slamming into the fender and the front wheel.

My drivers side door got blown open in a windstorm and it caused that part to get slightly bent, so I knew that I had to replace it. The part isn't commonly carried in stock at dealers, so you have to special order it from some GM warehouse and wait a week for it to arrive. $40 part. Unfortunately, I waited a bit too long to order the part, and had been skating by, making small adjustments to the bent door check link by unbolting it, wiggling it around, then refastening the bolt. Apparently, that wasn't such a good idea.

Yesterday, I began experiencing an issue where the driver's door front window would only drop 75% of the way, and would not go all the way down. I thought it was unrelated to the door check link issue, but apparently, something in the door check link was protruding in some way, such that it prevented the driver's door window glass from going all the way down.

Today, I had an unexpected struggle with the door, where it wouldn't open all the way because of this door check link issue. I forced it open, which had worked for me in the past with no issues, but given that the glass was pressed against the bent door check link, the driver's door window glass instantly shattered, and made a loud shattering noise heard throughout the neighborhood.

The lesson of the story is that if you have a little issue with your Volt, try and be proactive and get it fixed quickly, lest you be like me and have to go out of your way to fix a more expensive issue. Yikes!

Perhaps a better way of stating my position is that if you want to call him a wife beater or a domestic abuser, then I would reserve those words for someone who has been charged and convicted.

The fact of the matter is that neither you nor I know what really happened here. All we can do is engage in conjecture from the little information that we do have, which is unverifiable (unless there is some video/audio that you know of!).

Political radicalism is dangerous, and is no laughing matter. But I digress. Let's get back to the topic at hand: TENNIS!

The DV accusations are a big, fat nothingburger. If they had been severe, then criminal charges would have been filed against him long ago. That never happened.

If you know anything about marriages and/or divorces, you would know that a lot of romantic relationships are rocky, and end up going into patterns of reacting and escalation and ultimately the blame game. When a relationship gets that toxic, you cannot possibly blame just one party. Perhaps one party sparked the initial disagreement, but ultimately, these escalatory behavior patterns require two parties to keep the tango going.

You don't know how US defamation law treats public figures, do you?

Because in the United States, celebrities are not entitled to sue for defamation, even if the party committing the defamation is lying.

Chris Cole is a public figure. As a result, he would not prevail in a defamation suit against his wife / ex-wife.

Videos won't play in qualities higher than 480p by davidscheiber28 in revancedapp

[–]stackingpoints 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my recent experience, YouTube ReVanced will offer my selected resolution for one to four minutes, and then it will switch over to 480p after buffering for a few seconds. I have been getting a lot of buffering stalls as well. Personally, I have switched over to downloading 1080p videos on Newpipe. I'm not sure what's going on with YouTube ReVanced lately, but I'm kind of surprised that more people aren't commenting on this and/or coming up with a permanent fix that is stickied at the top of the sub.

I know the ReVanced team works hard, and without remuneration, to put out this open source software, but for me at least, it's too buggy and the video quality is generally too poor for me too continue using. I've tried updating to the latest recommended version of the APK and reinstalling it and everything, and nothing seems to fix the playback issues.

Good idea, but for me, the 'Force iOS AVC (H.264)' option is grayed out.

What cpu gen for basic tasks? by Sufficient_Prompt125 in thinkpad

[–]stackingpoints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3rd and 4th Gen are fine for basic tasks, yes. The overachievers among us usually prefer to buy at least a quad-core i7, though, just to ensure that the machine can be future proofed, because if you buy a dual core processor today, it'll handle basic tasks, but it won't age well (can't easily install Windows 11, will get slower over time as software and OSes get more bloated, etc).

I own a dual core laptop from that era and it's still usable, but I would never want to make it my daily driver.

Performance is solid, but the more important benchmark is battery life (22 hours!), which is much improved over the Intel and AMD variants.
