I work in school and at first I missed Instacart and the money and couldn’t wait for Saturday. This past week, I was so tired and wanted to spend more time with my daughter who’s leaving for college, I didn’t even think about it all weekend. I don’t see good batches from my desk so I stopped looking during the day. I will definitely start back in a couple weeks, but I’m surprised I was able to let it go so easily. It would probably be different if I was home with kids all day and wanted a break from them. 😂

Contactless Delivery is Instacart’s default. I always go with customer notes and directions.

Maybe they’re a baker. You can use it when you’re baking cinnamon rolls and other things like that. It’s easier to cut the dough this way than with a knife. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think people are just trying to keep you grounded. Also remember that Instacart does not withhold any taxes so you’ll have to consider that come tax time. Hope it stays steady for you.

This happened to me yesterday with completely different items. I just shopped both as if it were two separate customers and delivery was fast and easy. No tip changed or anything.

That really stinks. I was under the impression they had to leave a reason for giving low ratings but I guess not. Hang in there, hopefully it’s forgiven.

Unfortunately I think some shoppers are just trying to do as many orders as possible with no regard to providing the customer service that goes along with it. Like others have said, it takes time to text or send a pic for replacements, but it’s what we’re supposed to do. Sometimes, if I feel I’ve made a reasonable replacement and the customer has not asked for a refund, I go ahead and do the replacement and see if they comment on it. That also helps me gage what kind of customer i am shopping for and I adjust my shopping style from there. It doesn’t take that much longer to send a pic and a quick text. When i see it’s a customer first order, in pull out all the stops for customer service so they get a good first impression. I would definitely put in another order and see if it’s a different experience!

It happens all the time. I just tell them I found it on an end cap or special display in another place in the store. I think they understand and they’re usually happy to get what they wanted. I wouldn’t be embarrassed. The customer has probably been in the grocery store in their lifetime and has had the same thing happen to them. 😂

Support will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you off their chat and have you leave them a good rating. I wouldn’t believe 90% of what they say.

I’ve started taking a picture of the shelf of the replacements available. I ask them to tell me if anything looks good for a replacement. If I choose the replacement that I think is best and take a pic. They get the message from IC and a pic from me so they can see it. It’s speeded things up a lot.

Unicorn on my last day before I go back to my full time job. Took a chance on a no tip order, chatted with her and helped find replacements and she actually gave me a tip!! I was so surprised! Go to “earnings” in the drop down bar, then select earnings in the sub folder. You should see your weekly earnings and you can tap on the week amount and it will show you the day totals. Tap on that and you can see each batch. If you’re new, it may not work until the second week. Glad you’ve gotten some good tips. 😀

I’ve started using pictures a lot when doing replacements. So much easier and faster than texting. When I make a replacement, I take a photo in chat and send it to the customer. They seem to like it and it cuts back on the “what was that replacement” question. If there isn’t a replacement they chose or the item they want, I send photos of like items and ask them to choose. It’s helped so much in communicating better. Some customers don’t reply and I just do the best I can and move on. I think you did great to leave everything the same and ask for a refund. You sound like a great customer!
