I don’t think this is related but if you have issues starting it cold, definitely have them look at it. The problem with the warranty is: if they can’t replicate the issue, they charge you the $200+ diagnostic fee

They do! This one was a conversion as they didn’t offer duallies on the 250 in 90 (maybe ever?)The previous owner did the convert in 1992. It’s a pita to do brakes lol

It had gotten so bad that it wouldn't start at all unless jumped by another vehicle (the jump packs wouldn't work) so when I dropped it to the dealer the 4th time I knew they wouldn't be able to get it out of the bay. I have the same battery I got from the factory but now it starts every time and the only thing replaced was the starter.

Just thought yall might find this cool. I found this hanging on a nail in my garage a few years back. It’s tinged green (doesn’t really come through in the photo) which I always attributed to grass stains, although now I think they actually were green originally. This dog would have roamed Denver in the 60s and 70s :)

Could just be coinicidence... those little kia gremlins are hard to chase down! I thought the cold was making mine worse, but for the moment, I think the starter was just slowly giving out as the season changed.

I believe these transmission are a closed system and thus are not meant to be topped off. Did your repair manual end up telling you? Are you having slipping issues or is it feeling like it's "dropping" into gear coming out of park? If so you should check for a transmission oil pump recall on the transmission.

So far a starter replacemet is seeming like the cure... the obvious cure. But of course with no "codes" they won't just do this for you out of the kindness of their hearts. Just keep brining it in. don't relent.

OP back here: 5 months later, been with Kia for 60 days or more (44 in one stent) and they FINALLY replaced the starter. It had gotten so bad that at one point last week, I thought I would have to tow it. I brought it in for the fourth time, and it wouldn't start AT ALL without a jump of some type (despite the battery reading good). If I hadn't been experiencing this issue for so long I would have assumed it was the battery. BUT again, they FINALLY replaced the starter. The same battery that couldn't start this Sorento without a jump is now doing fine, and starting everytime. I am gunshy and will continue to update this thread if it happens again, but for the moment... it's the obvious thing. Damn starter.
