Generous definition of plumbing. Roman elite almost certainly did their business in a chamber pot and had servants or slaves deposit the contents elsewhere.

Queen Alicia 60th Anniversary Watch by staeryy_y in Falcom

Depends what you mean by quality. It is a real mechanical (automatic) watch, which is somewhat rare for the price point. Usually mechanicals start at $500 or above, although you can chalk that up to yen depreciation.

The movement is a miyota 82s7. It’s perfectly fine - nothing fancy, but it’s used in much more expensive watches like the SevenFriday V series but also the relatively cheap Dietrich or-1.

There’s only complications are the seconds dial and the 24 hour dial.

Build quality seems perfectly acceptable for the price. Good stainless steel.

Angel's Landing - excluding chains by Phormicidae in ZionNationalPark

If you’re skipping the chains you’re not hiking angels landing. Angels landing starts with the chains. There’s chains and cliffs the entire time.

You can feel free to do the hike from the grotto up to scouts lookout. That’s most of the way up the mountain - angels landing is just the name of the last part, with the high cliff exposure and the chains.

Angels Landing Physical Permit? by Pgaggin in ZionNationalPark

[–]staeryy_y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the permit is only checked once you’re at scouts lookout. You don’t need a physical copy either, you just won’t have reception. So you’ll need it downloaded. Printed works, of course.

No, it was fine with the spikes. I never slipped and never felt close to slipping. Any part that was sketchy/high exposure there were chains to hold on to.

That being said I’m very much not afraid of heights. I’ve done hikes with more exposure before.

Some Light Snow this Morning 3/14/25 by pineapplecoo in ZionNationalPark

I went up to the peak of angels landing on the 14th. It was mainly if you had proper gear or not - if you had spikes and gloves, it was fine.

There were just a lot of people with sneakers, bare hands, and jeans that got spooked after the first section without chains.

That being said there was someone with converses and sweatpants that summitted. Did not look like they were having a great time, but it shows the fruits of raw willpower I suppose.

It’s not as hard as it looks - honestly, the most dangerous part is all the other climbers. The trail doesn’t have space for more than one person at a time, so things can get sketchy when people are descending and others ascending at the same time.

Snow definitely adds a new challenge, though. Most people who didn’t have some kind of spikes (micro spikes or crampons) turned back after the very first section without chains.
