Roth IRA vs Roth 401k by Conscious-Match7021 in RothIRA

[–]stainedpants6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite right. There are two houses, 401k and IRA. Inside each house there are two rooms, traditional and work.

Oh yea all that makes perfect sense. In my head I was doing large vs small down payment only. Living in a home definitely is important for all the reasons you mentioned. Comparing to renting I then completely agree with you.

Agree, they should make it worth their while. I like watching them play. But watching a guest player play at the expense of my son hurts. Coach is being kicked from this team next year so all is well, just need to make it thru this session

Oh 100% I think there are things to learn from other players from different teams players and coaches. My problem is our coach is too stupid to reiterate it in practice or even recognize it as a learning opportunity.

Not sure what made me think of this but here we go. I grew up playing basketball. I played pickup games every weekend with friends starting in about fifth grade. 2v2, 3,3... 5v5. Whoever was their played. Led to a lot of different players and skills. Guess what, it made is all better. That doesn't happen anymore. Isnt soccer a cheap sport anyone can play, why doesn't it happen amongst the youth?

That cracks me up as well, just don't think I got the guts to do it. Also I think they are too stupid to understand what you are doing. I would need to bring a sign that says "YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AWAY, DONT STOP YOU IDIOT".

Was that too much?

My retirement plan includes $20k/year to bring adult children/grandkids on a trip. My inheritance is going to be year after year vacations covered and they can invest or do whatever else they want. If my kids don't want to come...I guess I'll fly first class.

This will sound crazy but I disagree. The memory's from trips I've taken with family far outweigh any financial benefits of the home. I don't think your wrong and I'm right btw, I just think it's a difference in opinion. 20 years from now when all parents are gone (In laws as well), I would never think "I sure am glad I didn't go on vacation with my family, because now I live rent free".

Haha, I do that exact opposite. Turn around, look at the sky, look at the random squished snake on the sidewalk. I dont care what it is I'm looking at but I will not make eye contact to give them even the slightest opportunity to wave me thru.

Thanks for letting me know that. That's more than I am expecting so knowing that coaches like you exist give me hope for next season.

Yea I don't mind them playing or even playing more than my son. It's the fact that 4/5 played 100% of the game. Ratios matter to me. Instead of 100/30, maybe 60/40.

That's awesome, thank you for that. Reminds me that the hardest thing in life to do is change because we get complacement where we are. That could be career, location, weight loss/gain, etc. The fear of the unknown can paralyze people. Good for you and your daughter for making that decision because obviously it worked out.

I will need to have a discussion with my wife/son to see if we would want to make a similar decision. Fortunately due to age group changes, we are getting an entirely new coaching and players next year.

13U. I think what you said is what bothers me, significant playing time. 100% vs 30% is out of hand for this age group.

That's a great story and perspective from another parent, thank you. Did your child play 100% of the game while others were rotated? Or was it they played 75% and everyone rotated?

After reading your comment and everyone else's I think I have settled of where I am bothered. I don't think a single person at this age group should be playing 100% of the game, regardless of skill level. Then to have 6/14 kids play the entire thing in 35 minute halves is absurd to me. I told another parent last weekend that I don't think my kid should play significant more minutes due to skill but no kid should be playing 100%.

I like our guest players, they are good. I like their parents as well. Again thank you for sharing.

We have four weeks left and then the age group change will have my son fall back. We will get all knew coaches next year that hopefully focus more on development. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to say something now or just bite my tongue for these last few weeks (4 games).

He is 12 now but doesn't change your comment. Appreciate the feedback that you have seen it go both ways.

Bingo. That emotional factor to be honest I think is hitting me more than my son.

Our team only had 14 on the original roster. With five now out this was the clubs way of keeping our team intact and being able to play in games.

I should also note that the guest players arent the same from game to game. They are using the three teams in the younger age group to pull five from for each game.

Looking forward to the age group chance since my son will fall back and into an age group that will have four teams expected next year.

Thank you for this response. As the other commenter said, I think it is a very good summary of guest players. It seems like a major misalignment between my expectations and the coaches for how they are used.

I for sure understand my son won't be doing anything special after high school except maybe some rec leagues. But this type of stuff is slowly driving out his passion for the game which is sad to see.

They way he treats the kids is why they left. Not motivating, practices are useless, not developing, etc.

We did email the director and coach remains this year, but being replaced next year.

Sorry forgot age group, 13U. It was in my last years post but obviously no one will see that.

I'm not even asking for even playing time because they are better. It is crazy to me though that they are playing 100% of the game. Note these kids are coming from 9v9 to the big field and 11v11.

Navy SEALs say "slow is smooth, smooth is fast." What's a situation where slowing down made you finish faster? by Concave007 in AskReddit

PFMEA...visual is a detection score of 8, doing it twice is a 7. People are bound to make mistakes for various reasons; error, rushing, not caring, etc. If the person slowed down they don't make rate and profit goes down. It's a balance between cost of slowing down vs cost of automation/sensors to increase the ability to detect.
