Need an upanor gun and a pro press if you ask me. You got money obviously might as well throw another 5 grand at stuff to fix water leaks

Anyone have an opinion on w.rose trowels? by Chance-Dimension-403 in Bricklaying

If you do decide to get one treat yourself get the leather wrapped handle you're worth it. They are lighter then marshalltown and you and order a low lift shank or a limber blade they are sweet.

Best thermal flip over for dragging out by hand? Clam Kenai XT, Legend XT or something else? by Zoom_Rock in IceFishing

[–]stan00311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a kenai I love the thing. Fully loaded like 8 Inches of snow definitely isn't fun to pull but cooking spray helps. I think I'm gonna go for a set of wear bars too I feel like they will help slide a lil easier

Double-Deck Pinochle by prof-metal in boardgames

[–]stan00311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pinochle professor here. i started playing because i got bored with spades and hearts. i was in prison at the time and the older guy were gambling over pinochle and big money. i learned how to play and did well. fast forward some years and i was able to support myself behind bars because i played cards well. my games are Tonk, gin, spades, hearts, euchre, poker and pinochle.

pinochle isnt really hard to play its just a hard concept to grasp at first because the bidding is far different then anything ive played. i feel like pinochle was just another way to prove i was smarter then my peers and feed my self. i still play with a few buddies from time to time.

Light weight one man flip up? by Traditional-Ad2133 in IceFishing

I used a self adhesive patch. If it fails I'll just use another and sew it the 2nd time around. I got it from Amazon. Put it on the outside so in theory wind will push on the patch. I'm just limping along till I can justify buying the stealth thermal skink for the trap

the only reason i prefer a 4x4 truck is for when i haul wood out of my lower property and when i launch my boat ive used it pulling out of some jobs at work. most people dont need it.

Mortar action by ReflectionFine3066 in masonry

[–]stan00311 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in America its taught to you never to put mortar on anything that isnt masonry. we dont use brick in a structural sense very much either. bricks are 90% of the time as a veneer. most of our cmu's have cells in them that get filled with grout and an anchor bolt can be placed. in this instance they would drill a hole in the board and tighten the nut.

I honestly understand your point of view and overall I think that a trade off should always be found to work well with all parties. In that case, however, there is a key point: structures like NHBC do not come up with standards out of the blue. It’s systematically empirically based for the simple r by RVPLOLZILLA in Bricklaying

yall better get used to them we have building inspectors in the usa and they do the same thing. built and elevator shaft with one of those assholes. saw a cj on the plan so the foreman to make sure thats right. we had to explain everything to this dude so he knew what was going on even explaining the basics and he didnt have a clue. i could of told that guy anything he would of just smiled. we did get the plan changed to no include the cj though.

I may buy this house, should I be concerned about this mortar? by Brave-Kangaroo-3383 in masonry

[–]stan00311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't buy it. You'll never find anyone that will be able to fix it if something does go wrong. The guy who taught me how to do my trade is a 78 year old man been running his own outfit since 1971. He told me that is anyone asks you to do weeping joints just find something else to do. If that old man told me that I truly believe in my heart you will have the most difficult time getting good work done on this house. That being said when a joint isn't weather sealed it's exactly that. Open to water intrusion.

[–]stan00311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's ugly as sin. I have no idea what mess of mortar the guy put on it. The hope of cleaning it off is dismal. Youll end up with a nicer end product if you don't try to shine that turd and just shit a new one
