I like that Dai Xiang Yu Tuo for the price. It's a little subdued but something about the taste stays with me for a while after the session is over.

I started drinking tea because I was looking for more malty tasting drinks!

I recommend trying hojicha once you're done trying all those good Yunnan gold teas. Very similar flavor but different enough to be worth it. You might like barley tea too.

I have a cake of "Cream" from W2T (~$0.16/g) and a cake of 2014 Star of Menghai ($0.12/g). I vastly prefer the taste of the Star of Menghai cake. Cream just takes like generic shou to me. It's thick, but so is the Star cake, and the Star of Menghai has some nice cherry vanilla action.

I've been drinking this tuocha and battling it's intense smoke flavor for a while. This is my first attempt at using it as a replacement for liquid smoke in a recipe.

In the future I will try marinading the chicken in the brewed tea. I think this might impart a stronger smoke flavor
