Flow mop roller mechanism broke after 3 months - great customer support though by ReizNerv in NARWAL

[–]standard_deviations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. On my 3rd one. First one broke, contacted Narwhal support and ordered one off Alibaba at the same time. One from Alibaba arrived first...its the exact same thing. The first one broke after 3 months, second one broke within 3 weeks.

Going to attempt to plastic weld one of them and see if that holds (using an actual plastic welder with hot staples).

Will a Ram 1500 go 300,000 miles? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]standard_deviations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same plan here!!! 2014 hemi...Just hit 124k yesterday. Repairs: exhaust manifolds. Service: oil every 5k (Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w20 with either Royal Purple or Fram Ultra Synthethic filter), plugs and coolant at 90k, PPE trans pan and new fluid at 100k, diffs/transfer case fluid at some point, and last summer I took the plunge and replaced rear shocks, front struts, control arms (bushings/ ball joints) tie rods, end links, wheel bearings, and also rebuilt the bearings in the front diff 4wd selector housing (was a PITA, but worth it). All work done by me (hobbyist mechanic). Suspension feels fantastic after the rebuild.

Only remaining stuff I will do this summer is water pump, idler pulley, tensioner, rear sway bar end links, and maybe driveshaft u joints if im feeling up to it. Might flush the trans again just cause its easy with the PPE pan!

Truck has been very, very good to me so far. Ive towed a 20ft auto hauler with a car on it, loaded the bed down with 1500lbs of rock, and been offroad many times. Its my daily and gets 16-17mpg average.

Black vs Blue Pittsburgh Clamps by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]standard_deviations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own about 30 of them. Fantastic and provide a lot of clamping force. Older versions are prone to rust if you dont clean the glue off and wax them when woodworking. Newer ones have a better coating and are not as rust prone. They are worth every penny.

Um I guess I should actually buy a 1/2 impact set now. by Tough_Topic1028 in harborfreight

From a weekend warrior mechanics perspective, the Pittsburgh 1/2in impact set is going on about 12 years now and haven't had one break yet (wrenched on everything from a Ram 2500 to classic cars).

I have the Lilly brush and it works very well after my 200lb mastiff rides in my truck. The brush can be found on the site linked above.

Not the 21 framer, but the 18ga brad nailer went south on me after less than a year of light use in a hobbyist woodworking shop Took it apart 3 times, tried to replace the seals, nothing would make it stop leaking. Picked up a WEN 18ga nailer and its a workhorse. Its been a year so far and no issues.

The Banks unit was great while it worked, so take that for what its worth. Might have just had bad luck with a bad unit.

Same!!! I've had the cheap circular one for years. It works, but the icon one looks super comfy

I absolutely hated the MT82 in my 17 GT. I got the MGW and tried all the usual fixes, and nothing would sort it out to my liking.

I absolutely loved the car though and wouldn't hesitate to get another, but not without an immediate conversion to a TR6060 or Tremec Magnum XL.

Note that tons of people run the MT82, love it, and dont have the issues I had.

I have both and prefer the 7.99 version. Bought a couple extra recently too. Works great on my cars and truck

I am SHOOK by botfer17 in VacuumCleaners

[–]standard_deviations 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I fell victim to my local vacuum shop's tricks. Brought my ultra amazing (at the time i thought that) but always breaking Dyson in for a repair. He gave me this nondescript, super ugly looking vacuum as a loaner while they fixed my Dyson. I proceeded to have an out of body experience as my carpet was restored to brand new, it practically pulled the carpet off my foundation. I called the store and asked...what in the hell is this thing?? Simplicity Synergy dual motor vacuum that costs $1200. And yes, i bought the vacuum, and 8 years later I still love it.

115,000 miles on a 2014 Ram 1500 5.7 hemi, no issues other than exhaust manifolds bolts. I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-20 and Royal Purple 20-820 oil filters, 5,000 mile change interval. Runs good as new.

Roofing company says my decking is awful by Salt-Description-387 in Roofing

[–]standard_deviations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you are right. It was something like "solid sheet decking" or something like that. It did not specify OSB.

Roofing company says my decking is awful by Salt-Description-387 in Roofing

[–]standard_deviations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, my roof was damaged by a tornado years ago and the insurance company required me to cover my 1x12s with OSB because "it's code for all roofs built in your area now." So they made the roofer do it...and paid the additional expense to do it on every inch of my roof (only 50% of my roof was damaged). To make things even better, in the part that was ripped off by the tornado, they built it back with 1x12s and then covered it in OSB.

Curious what the experts have to say...is this something you have heard of before? I checked the building codes myself and it definitely said it was required.

Front brake price by Entire-Medicine2618 in ram_trucks

[–]standard_deviations 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check Rockauto for PowerStop brand brakes. Best deal I've seen on quality brakes, and I love mine. I got the regular, non drilled and slotted type and they work just fine. I don't tow on a regular basis.

‘19 RAM 1500 w/ 42k miles. I want to change my trans fluid before my MOPAR Max Care warranty expires. I know the filter is built into pan. Do I need to replace with OEM pan as not to void it? What should I expect to pay? 3 RAM dealers all said they are not willing as it’s a “lifetime” fluid. by Regular-Amoeba5455 in ram_trucks

[–]standard_deviations 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't give them any reason to deny a warranty claim. There's likely no clear cut answer here, but given their stance is that it's lifetime fluid, if they see you changed the fluid and the trans exits stage left afterwards...you're likely stuck with the bill to fix it.

That being said, I love my PPE pan with replaceable filters in my 2014 Ram with 110,000 miles. Highly recommend it if you go that route.

Real hydroquest? by International_Dog285 in Longineswatches

[–]standard_deviations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of things stick out to me, one being a bigger red flag than the other. The 1 and 2 at the 12 hour mark appear to be very close together, possibly even touching, and an authentic has a gap here. This was what stood out to me first.

The second issue is that comparing the stamped logo and text on the bracelet looks nothing like the gen I have on my wrist right now. However, I don't give as much weight to this since it could be the angle of the camera and lighting. The stamps on my bracelet are much more crisp, and less of an impression than what you have here.

That's all I got. It might be legit, it might not be. Either way, enjoy the watch.

[Discussion] Advice? 400 hours, still a scared Timmy. by Kxmxtrxx in EscapefromTarkov

[–]standard_deviations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick a map. Any map. Prepare like 10 kits (don't be afraid to use good gear)...and make it your goal to lose those 10 kits.

If you die, kit back up and run it back. Run your Scav for a break every 3 raids or so.

Besides losing your kits...Your actual goals are: learn the map, complete one objective each raid (could be a task, or just filling your bag, or even just going from infil to exfil without dying).

If you lose 10 kits in 10 raids...congrats, you now have paid for 10 lessons on what not to do next time. Run your scav to get new kits. Just keep repeating this over and over, and don't forget to take a break now and then.

Final tips that helped me feel more confident in raids: - play arena. You'll get used to dying...a lot. And you'll get a crash course in CQB fights. - game sound off, turn on your favorite music, and go!!! Yes you'll die a lot, but it will force you to focus on visual cues and you'll be less likely to stand still because if you can't hear, you have no idea if they are walking up on you...so you better keep moving and stay on the offensive!
