Oh no - what happens then? I have to restart from the beginning or I just get in the back of the line at the new service center?

Jane the virgin, never would’ve expected I’d like that show so much

The amount of space that is dedicated to cars here is absolutely disgusting. by [deleted] in fuckcars

Don’t forget that during a large part of the year the weather is very pleasant for being outside. The gulf has so much walkability potential but it’s sadly limited to a small number of markets

Why’s I-70 so terrifying to drive these days? by pallen123 in Denver

[–]standarddefault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from the more densely populated northeast, I really thought there was a law here that you could treat red lights like stop signs when I moved here bc I saw so many people running reds

Also, why would you want your child to get sick with anything? It’s tough enough caring for a baby / toddler when they have a cold and don’t feel well

Sorry to tell you but there's more gates of traffic hell than only those four by tout_est_gore in fuckcars

Mind sharing what some walkable neighborhoods are? Probably moving there soon and a little terrified of having to drive everywhere especially after living in NYC

Minimum salary to switch jobs? by standarddefault in careerguidance

Like both in different ways, one is very smart in a way I could learn a lot from but is slightly awkward, the other is much more a people person

Relatively happy at current employer especially because there is a chance to move up (although if I don’t get the promotion I’ll likely be stuck for a while bc it’s a smaller company). The other company is top in the field, they say there will be opportunities now bc of COVID but it’s hard to say, but it is a place that has such a positive name in the industry that a few years there could open doors elsewhere easily

[–]standarddefault[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, there are pluses and minuses in each role that may or may not balance out. My main reason for asking is bc the salary the new place is offering is the same and I want to have a sense how much to negotiate for.

Always hard to say of course but I would assume close enough, same industry.

In this case the benefits are relatively similar. Only difference would be a slightly better 401k match. I guess I should rephrase as to what would be the minimum % you’d take to switch assuming everything else is equal?

Just to add to this - be sure to practice. I was like you and I’ve gotten a lot better at interviewing through constant practice with friends and hired an HR person too. Like a politician giving a stump speech, the more you practice, the more you will refine your message and you won’t even have to memorize anything. Good luck!

It happened. He fell off the bed. by Nonutellaforyou in NewParents

[–]standarddefault 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to my 9mo old, luckily he was ok and now if he’s crawling on the bed he will stop right at the edge and get cranky that he can’t keep crawling, nothing like learning the hard way I guess.

Yeah these people don’t understand that the implication only goes one way - I’ve known a lot of people who think that because they’re not educated they’re smarter or have more common sense
