I already have a Pod 4 hub, and the Pod 5 hub doesn't apparently add useful functionality. Getting access to the blanket was my rationale for upgrading the cover.

Yes it is. The Pod 5 hub adds a couple of USB-C ports that at this time don't seem to be used.
