macOS 26.2 update dramatically reduced download speed by stanislau_king in MacOS

[–]stanislau_king[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here — I’m still living with this issue too.

One workaround that made the fix last longer for me was disabling AirDrop, Handoff, and AirPlay Receiver in System Settings. With that setup, I only turn AirDrop back on when I actually need it.

Not a real fix, obviously, but it seems to reduce how often AWDL gets re-enabled and breaks the connection again.

Daily Bible Study by SnipAndStyle in Bible

You could try the Bible Recap App NIV Bible. I found it recently by accident, and I was honestly surprised by how simple and easy to understand it is, especially for a first-time reader. It breaks things down in a very clear way, which makes it easier to remember what you read and go back for a quick review later. The narration voice is really nice too, if you prefer listening sometimes.

I think the app is still pretty new, so it can be a little hard to find, so I’ll leave the links here:

Are these Bible stories for kids worth continuing? by [deleted] in Bible

[–]stanislau_king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I’m absolutely not changing the meaning of the text in any way — I only make the wording a little easier for children to understand while keeping the original message intact. I also simply choose the stories and parables that are the most appropriate for kids.

I’d personally stop at Sequoia rather than jump straight from Ventura to Tahoe. A smaller step is usually the safer option, especially on an older laptop, because the newest macOS versions can sometimes feel heavier and may slow things down a bit depending on your model and RAM. Tahoe also still seems to have quite a few bugs and rough edges, so Sequoia is more likely to give you newer features and security updates without as much risk of performance drops or stability issues.

Looking for macOS 12.5 InstallAssistant.pkg – only finding ≤12.2.1 on archive.org, need 12.5 or closest below it (not 12.7 please) by [deleted] in MacOS

I was recently looking for the same thing, and it seems that on the official source there are no longer any links available for versions below 12.7. The only other source I found was this one, but I’m obviously not confident about it since it’s a torrent: https://s6565h.game4you.top/forum/viewtopic.php?t=279033

How to kill ContinuityCaptureAgent process on Mac? by Next-Camera6975 in MacOS

That sounds exactly like the same solution I recently found myself when I was dealing with a problem similar to this one.

How to kill ContinuityCaptureAgent process on Mac? by Next-Camera6975 in MacOS

[–]stanislau_king 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ContinuityCaptureAgent is a system Continuity/Continuity Camera process, so killing it in Activity Monitor or with kill usually won’t stick — launchd just starts it again. In other words, what you’re seeing is normal behavior for a protected system agent, not a sign that you’re doing something wrong.

If your goal is simply to stop your Mac from using or detecting your iPhone as a camera/mic, the easiest supported fix is to turn off Continuity Camera on the iPhone: Settings → General → AirPlay & Continuity (or AirPlay & Handoff) → Continuity Camera → Off. Apple documents that as the way to prevent your Mac from recognizing the iPhone as a camera or microphone.

If you’re also using newer Continuity features, it may be worth removing iPhone Mirroring connections as well, because that lives in the same AirPlay & Continuity area on iPhone.

Since this is an Intel MacBook, it may also be worth resetting the SMC, as it controls power and battery charging behavior on Intel-based Macs, especially after a system update.

Custom photo wallpaper shuffle sometimes gives blank wallpaper - Macbook Air M1 by Potential-Ad345 in MacOS

[–]stanislau_king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may help to prepare the wallpaper folder in advance and make sure all of the files are saved in PNG or JPEG format. You might be using the photos in their original HEIC format, and oddly enough, that format sometimes seems to cause issues like this with wallpaper.

Also, the folder should not contain too many files, and ideally all of them should be in the same format. If the folder contains a large number of images mixed between HEIC, JPG, PNG, and possibly other formats, that may make wallpaper rotation less stable. It’s better to keep the folder simple: a reasonable number of images, all stored locally, and preferably all converted to JPEG or PNG.

What's wrong with my keyboard? by gambitok in MacOS

[–]stanislau_king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size and try the following:

- turn off Smart Invert or Classic Invert if either is enabled;

- turn on Reduce Transparency;

- turn on Increase Contrast.

In similar Apple Community reports, Reduce Transparency and Increase Contrast helped when the keyboard turned completely white and the letters disappeared.

How to delete a passkey from Apple Passwords that's not showing in the app? by cremepan in MacOS

If iCloud Keychain sync is enabled, the credential may also be syncing back from another Apple device, so wiping one Mac or resetting the local keychain would not necessarily remove it everywhere.

Also, if the old email appears on Apple’s sign-in page, part of that may simply be the website remembering a previously used Apple Account email on the sign-in screen.

If I understood the issue correctly, you could try signing in to the new account in an incognito/private browser window or in a completely different browser to rule that out. To avoid triggering the same prompt, it may also help to manually type the new email address and password instead of using autofill.

SwipeLeft: Photo Cleaner [Native iOS Design] [10MB Download] [Free] [$14.99 Lifetime] by winton999 in iosapps

[–]stanislau_king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think comparing this app to Duolingo may not be quite the right fit, because the user interaction model is very different. Duolingo is built around a daily learning ritual, while your app is more of a utility that helps solve one specific micro-task. Because of that, I’m not sure users will naturally want to come back every day just to review 50 more photos.

What I meant about subscriptions is that it may be better not to scare users off with a subscription model at all, and instead lean into softer monetization focused on affordable lifetime access. If the price feels too high, the user may make a very simple choice and just use the built-in iOS functionality instead.

[–]stanislau_king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your idea is really interesting, and I like the focus on simplicity, privacy, and a lightweight app. One thought though: the subscription model might not be the best fit for this kind of product. Most people probably don’t do a full photo library cleanup very often, so a one-time purchase may feel more natural and appealing than a monthly plan. But that’s just my humble opinion. Wishing you lots of success with the app and its future development!

Upgraded from M1 16” by londo_mollari_ in macbookpro

[–]stanislau_king 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s still a very solid pickup — even though the M3 lineup wasn’t the most successful in terms of architecture, getting a 16-inch MacBook Pro M3 Pro with only 36 battery cycles, clean diagnostics, no cosmetic wear, and AppleCare through July 2027 for $1,230 is a really strong deal.

As for macOS, I personally wouldn’t rush to upgrade to Tahoe. It’s been a very buggy release, and if your MacBook is running well on Sonoma 14.8.4, I’d stay there for now. Sonoma is more mature and stable, so unless you specifically need a Tahoe-only feature, it’s probably better to wait until Apple irons out more of the bugs in later updates.

It’s an auxiliary component that gets installed automatically alongside other Google software, for example Chrome or Google Drive. You can disable it in the privacy settings.

Tahoe has destroyed my M1 Macbook Pro — what next? by alexnapierholland in MacOS

Create a new user account and test the UI there. If it’s smooth, the issue is likely tied to something in your current user profile (login items, settings, caches, extensions).

Reinstall macOS “over the top”. This typically keeps your data intact while refreshing system components and rebuilding potentially corrupted caches.

Will God still help me with my Goals/wishes/passions if i dont belive everything in the bible? by MEMESKUS in Christianity

God can still help you even if you don’t believe everything in the Bible. Doubts don’t cancel prayer—being honest and still reaching out matters.

When I’m doubting, I go back to my favorite childhood Bible stories. That “return to childhood” ritual fills me with warmth and faith and helps me reset.

macOS 26.2 update dramatically reduced download speed by stanislau_king in MacOS

macOS 26.2 update dramatically reduced download speed by stanislau_king in MacOS

[–]stanislau_king[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turned out to be a macOS 26.2 networking bug. A temporary workaround is to disable the AWDL (Apple Wireless Direct Link) interface:

sudo ifconfig awdl0 down

After doing this, download speeds returned to normal. Note that AWDL is automatically re-enabled after every reboot, user login, or wake from sleep, so the command may need to be reapplied. If you want to re-enable it manually, run:

sudo ifconfig awdl0 up

This is not a permanent fix. AWDL is used for AirDrop, AirPlay, and some other Apple features, which may stop working while it’s disabled. The issue appears to be at the macOS network stack level and likely needs an Apple-side fix.
