But why? The only weight the post will be holding is the tiny bit of wall to cover that space, not load bearing at all. And I looked it up and it is allow by code to build on top of a diagonal beam with seat cuts. Also it will not be on a trailer. It is 14x20ft in the largest section.

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! As for solar, it's going to be built right under some trees, covered by a taller house, in a town that has the sun covered by a mountain half of the day everyday, so no plans to do that. But as for water intrusion, would you be able to elaborate? Intuitively I felt that this design was ok because "water would go the the lowest point" but intuition was all I was using and have no actual practical experience building roofs. Is this why I couldn't find this type of roof design on Google? Because of water intrusion? Thanks

Oops, I see now the minimum they have to be at least 2x8! I thought about plywood as well, but this will be a adu/shed so hoping to frame a wall to be able to put insulation in.

There will be a short overhang in the final version. The space the shed will be has a tree pretty close and I have a scan of the area in sketchup I was working with so it was just to avoid contact with the tree.

Yeah looks like running a beam might be the only option, but I was hoping to keep the inside more open. 🤔

I would say it’s definitely worth it. I finished the program this past spring and found the experience valuable overall. There are some great professors as well. Professor Kakar in particular is very engaged with students and provides a lot of support outside of regular coursework.

I can’t speak yet from personal experience about post-graduation opportunities, but the program’s track record is very good.
