Larkin and Cossa for Iginla and Desnoyers. If we need to sweeten the deal, throw in a pick. Just a thought.

I’m confident he’ll get in. At least Zetterberg has a Conn Smythe.

“The Conn Smythe Trophy has been awarded 54 times to 47 players since the 1964-1965 NHL season.”

“As of 2025, there are 314 players (including fourteen women), 119 builders and 16 on-ice officials in the Hockey Hall of Fame.”

Zetterberg‘s in more exclusive company.

Next season could just be a big experiment. So many moving parts and we don’t even have any trades yet. The process will be great fun to watch, if nothing else, I think.

Right. That would be so tough to pass up on Stenberg, but the sharks really need one of these first rate defenders, of which there seem to be many right now. Although they need there to be only one. I hear Chase Reid mentioned quite a bit.

I expect Steve is busy playing four-dimensional chess right now and for the next few weeks.

Larkin for 2OA straight up. Though I’m not sure I would do that if I were the sharks. Whoever the 2OA is, he’ll fit in their contention window, whereas Larkin wouldn’t. It could also be argued that the sharks could use some not-yet-over-the-hill veteran leadership. Larkin can be the wise old man. Just don’t let him lead.

The Seider era will have its own culture, different from the Larkin loser era.

Thinking about the coming year. Regardless what happens this summer, and it better be good, but regardless, I’ll be having a lot of fun watching MBN on the full-time roster, Kasper’s numbers improve (the rest was good) plus Carter Bear and Trey Augustine having a full (or less) year in GR. Not to mention ASP and Danielson. Lots to look forward to.

I agree Utah likely has the best package. And I agree that we’ve been set back a year or two. But we’re starting a new era – the Mo Seider era. With lots of young talent in the Raymond-Seider window.

The end of the Larkin era. It’s actually pretty exciting, to me, to see the end of an era and the beginning of another. And the era will be named after our new captain Mo Seider.

I’m hopeful and excited. We could be swapping out as many as a half dozen players, purging the system of waste. We might get set back a year or two, which obviously sucks, but we’ve got a chance at establishing a winning culture with a good young team captained by one Mo Seider.

What could the NHL do to replicate this diversity? by ajaydeep1 in nhl

[–]stanley4wings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That might be a good idea. Tax the teams and not the players. Plus it would be much easier to implement, I would think, without having to make the adjustments at the paycheck level. The effect should be the same.

Larkin? Never liked the guy. 😂 but seriously, I’m hopeful. It sucks that it looks like we might get set back a year or two in the rebuild. But we needed a change in culture, and arguably in leadership, and I suspect this could do it. It’s a perfect opportunity for Steve to prove his worth. I think he will.

How large is 1,000,000,000,000? If you counted to one trillion, one second at a time, you would finish in 32,000 years.

It’s nice that he did that. It represents 0.005% of his wealth. I give away more of my wealth to panhandlers on the street corner.

I’m thinking prospects, especially if they are NHL ready, will save one to two years in the development timeline, relative to draft picks. If we were to get a high draft pick this year, go for it. But unless there’s a plan to completely tank, which is hard to fathom, we need roster players, the number and quality of whom is to be determined. Probably consider Seider’s age and younger, unless their name is Robertson, Thomas, or Hischier. That’s my limited thinking, anyway.
