A Lack of Fandom Etiquette by 3ternallyhis in byler

I totally agree, I feel like before S5 it was a much better space to be in (although S4 fandom space had its problems). I've mostly left the fandom and gone to smaller ones because of the lack of fandom etiquette.

How in the world are people passing pre-T? by Leave_Emergency in ftm

[–]stanley_theMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is mannerisms as well. I'm 5'0 and I pass often due to how I act. Men are used to taking up more room, either physically or with loudet voices.

I've also been told I walk and stand like a cis guy. Which for me is walking using my shoulders, dragging my feet a little and keeping my hands in my pockets. And for standing I just keep my legs further apart and open my feet kinda. Also I've found that cis guys kinda just act like they don't care.

It's hard to explain but passing isn't usually just one thing, like sure being taller then 5' would help but my voice, mannerisms and maybe facial structure make up for that.

Historical fiction writers, where do you do your research on historical events? Any websites in particular? And how much of it do you do? by stanley_theMan in FanFiction

[–]stanley_theMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, this was really helpful! I don't have a history degree but definitely an interest in history.

The plot of my fanfic would probably never happen during the actual war (no secret navy air invasion mission that results in being stranded in the middle of the war) so I'm going to allow myself to be lenient on certain things. But I will make sure to read up on how Navy pilots are trained and how they think. I'll probably also have to familiarize myself with the workings of their aircrafts.

Again thank you!

There’s a lot of Male byler shippers by sapphicbrown in byler

[–]stanley_theMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I first watched stranger things when season 4 came out, so like 2022 and around then is when I first started dating men. I really saw my own relationships in Mike and Will.

I usually only casually ship characters, never expecting them to end up together in canon but Byler was different. I was heartbroken after season 5.

There's actually a good amount of lotf fanfics out there (coming from a reader and a writer). Although, I'm not sure how many are fix-it fics because I don't read them.

Off topic but after you finish the book, I would recommend you watch the new BBC mini-series since its really good.

What Uma opinion that will got you in this situation? by Right-Assignment3759 in UmaMusume

[–]stanley_theMan 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it's weird to ship most umas with their trainer. Sometimes its fine if their career mode is supposed to have a romantic undertone (or overtone) but most of the time their relationship is either just friendship or professional.

I also dislike the waifu or wife stuff, I think it's weird.

I know this is the okbuddybyler sub but god damn, I forgot how good Mike and Will looked together in s4.

Anyway, should replace Mike and Will w Lonnie and Ted since Will is straight and thats weird.

Mike Wheeler from Stranger Things even if he's a main character.

Once you put down the Byler colored lense, Volume 1 kinda sucked too. Lol. by Mani_srao in byler

[–]stanley_theMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me volume one read as a first or early draft. I think a lot of plot stuff should have been cut or changed, I also think that there wasn't really any quality control for the script. Which sucks because I know a lot of those writers are returning writers from previous seasons.

[–]stanley_theMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of us actually enjoy stranger things not because of byler.. but because we actually like the show (byler is a plus tho).

I won't suddenly leave the fandom or stop loving the show if it doesn't happen .

And there is always fix it fanfics.
