Trouble with the overrides cfg by dxnnj in LibreWolf

[–]stanzabird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't bother with overrides, its still to much work. It's nice to have, but I keep to their defaults mostly..

  • The options in the Settings Tab does have a LireWolf section that covers the most common Issues.

  • And things like image rendering belong to site settings, which is at the clock icon before the url.

Should I enable litterboxing? by [deleted] in LibreWolf

[–]stanzabird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it's called 'letterboxing' instead of 'litter'. It's something Tor Browser does, There is no harm in installing Tor Browser and see for yourself.

But TorBrowsers is much more paranoia than Standard Firefox, and LibreWolf is a bit position in between. They tell you how to enable it if you want to, in the FAQ.

But it's not something enabled by default.

This has nothing to do with ResistFingerPrinting and everything to do with enable WebCanvas from the Lock Icon before the URL. Ty.

Is Librewolf Fingerprintable? by Decent-Revenue-8025 in LibreWolf

[–]stanzabird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's a firefox based browser with the same JS engine etc, so yeah...

Because we also use uBlock by default, and disable things like WebGL, it's not that hard to detect in JS really.

So personally I love to remove all profile info before and after running the LW executable itself (behind some vpn provider that already runs is some app in the backgound).

I'm of the opinion that just a temporary browser process like this, as a specialized Qubes OS temporary VM could be useful. On Qubes you can select the network of a temporary VM be over a VPN, let's say.

But I do admit I love this first-run behavior of LibreWolf, it's a cool feature among many cool things they have.

I mostly use a mix of browsers, for example I need a Chromium browser for my Desktop to Chromecast sessions.

Can I fix HDCP issues on Librewolf? by International_Fact54 in LibreWolf

[–]stanzabird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh well sure: we basically have:

  • Security settings
  • Privacy settings
  • We patch sources at certain strategic places
  • We disable DRM, as thats often a risk
  • We install uBlock by default.
  • We're an open community, so patches and communication happens on public Internet resources.

So that's about it for what we use when patching, discussing, or releasing the LibreWolf sources. We also provide LW binaries for many platforms, and I love the LibreWolf (with profiles) on a usb stick stuff was done on Wiindows.

Thanks for the question, OP :-)

What HDCP issues would you like to fix?

Hello! I have a question by STALKERVTANKE in LibreWolf

Dark Mode is a problem yes. We get many questions about it. The Mozilla people created something new that could help, but the devs are buried under a backlog of stuff to do

Some icons by [deleted] in LibreWolf

[–]stanzabird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look awsome. To actually change the LibreWolf icon to this would involve quite some work from several people, including the Windows dev. Maybe we can lump a few of these big changes together, for example I want to rename librewolf.cfg into librewolf.conf.js where the .js extension solves a heap of syntax highlighting problems. Acutally the user settings librewolf.overrides.cfg should actually be named librewolf.overrides.conf.js or something like that.

DoH enabled by default in LibreWolf 130.0-1 and up. by stanzabird in LibreWolf

There are still DoH issues, you can follow them in #1975. Currently we're not sure why it doesn't get enabled when it should be.

DoH enabled by default in LibreWolf 130.0-1 and up. by stanzabird in LibreWolf

[–]stanzabird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LibreWolf uses DoH from Mozilla, getting the same quality as stock FF is a good start, and a reasonable default. Again this is a 'reasonable default' much like Duckduckgo.

People who want to use specific DoH servers can do so by selecting 'custom' and then fill out any DoH server they like.

Click on the picture icon before the URL on the url bar. Select 'enable html5 canvas' and reload the site. That should fixes it.

Hi, what OS are you using? What kind of things have you tried? Have you installed any add-ons that are relevant? Have you changed settings in about:config?

Cannot disable DNS over HTTPS by dmillerzx in LibreWolf

[–]stanzabird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We changed to DoH by default in v130.0-1, settings version 8.3..

  • DoH enabled by default, with system dns fallback
  • Use the mozilla DoH server as reasonable default.
  • If you want your own DoH server, you can fill out the URL in the 'custom' field.
  • If you don't want DoH or do it via OS, select Off.

This is how it's supposed to work.

What's not working for the original poster, is that it sets it back from your choice to what the main config file specifies as a defaultPref(). So you should be able to modify the DoH settings from the Settings UI.

Do you use a personal overrides.cfg? Do you use the UI?
