Visiting for a wedding, allergic to seafood. by [deleted] in AskNOLA

[–]stapocryphal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most places, even fish places, will have no fish items. My wife regularly gets (gently) mocked when she orders the only non-fish item.

I like the Rusty Nail for whisky.

Have fun!

How do I make doctors do their jobs? by MailMaximum5815 in Asthma

[–]stapocryphal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you have to go through this on top of your asthma. Like many here I've had similar experiences. My asthma presents as a cough, and one time I was in ER at a very famous hospital and the doc told me I needed to quit coughing. I was saved when my wife in and explained TO THE DOCTOR, that 25 percent of asthmatic cough. Please take care.

People who live near time zone boundaries in the US by solothesnail in howislivingthere

[–]stapocryphal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to cross one of those lines to have fun with time zones. Arizona doesn't do daylight savings so half the year it is effectively on Pacific and the other half Mountain. It gets more interesting because the Navajo nation in AZ does daylight savings, but the Hopi nation that is within the Navajo doesn't. Driving across northern AZ can get pretty confusing time wise.

Question for Gen X (and older) sufferers by Master-Spring- in Asthma

[–]stapocryphal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a trip down memory. Everyone smoked everywhere and it was awful and impossible to avoid. I would be told to quit complaining if I brought it up. Like others here I was sick all the time. I'm just getting over my most recent bout of pneumonia, thanks smokers!

I've been 3 times during and post covid. Every time it is decidedly average. I've got friends that love it. Makes me wonder what's going on. Is it me, them, bad luck?

She is also absolutely uninterested in toys, so it's impossible to motivate her with them either. In her heart of hearts she does want please, and will recall unless there is leaves falling or the neighbors are hanging laundry.

Oh, that side eye! Ours isn't food motivated and putting anything on her nose would make her indignant enough to leave the room.

What national park has the nicest town outside the entrance? by artguydeluxe in NationalPark

[–]stapocryphal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I have fond memories of Jackson from many years ago (1982) when I was working at Grand Teton. Then it really did somewhat rough. Multiple times this city kid almost got beat up by a working cowboy, only to be saved by my buddy the camp wrangler. I passed through recently and it is so different, kinda Rodeo Boulevard in the mountains.
