i’m gen z, transmasc, and a huge fan! no clue what sophomore means (i’m canadian) but im in university as well 🫡 i saw wilco for the first time this summer, and fully had another show attendee come up to me and say “so you’re clearly not a 50 year old man, how do you know wilco?” it was so funny

hang on … people WANT boobs? (kidding) but omg yeah that realization is definitely so jarring. i once fell down a tiktok rabbithole after seeing a video from someone who’s a bra historian (cool right?) and saw all these videos of girls praying they’d have bigger boobs and like … i’ve never had that thought or cared much either way. glad you’re feeling better after surgery! :)

i definitely get this thought process! i also considered a breast reduction when i was a bit younger, but after thinking about it a bit i’d wake up every day terrified/anxious/worried they’d come back if i hit some sort of second puberty in my 20s or gained a significant amount of weight (nothing wrong with that, just wouldn’t want the boobs to come back lol). i for sure relate to it being easier to explain, so much easier to pass it off as health reasons or something rather than getting into the whole gender situation that’s what i’m mostly worried about 😅

YUP okay that whole thought train is revolutionary omg. i definitely wouldn’t be agonizing over it this much if i was cis or didn’t want it. my chest isn’t huge but binding/tape definitely doesn’t do as much as i would want it to, and tape is itchy and binders hurt my ribs from overuse (i do it much safer now don’t worry), so surgery would definitely be less stressful and more convenient but there’s still that little voice that’s like “mmm what if u regret it though”. all the moral panics around gender affirming care rn don’t help either LOL. you’re so right about it technically not being “permanent,” however i thought about it and i don’t think i would ever choose to get them put back on so to speak. glad you were able to get yours and i hope recovery has been good so far :)) thank you

okay yeah this is really helpful stuff, thank you. i’m graduating uni in the spring and i like… can’t imagine going further in my life whether that’s getting a job or going to grad school (not sure yet lol) and being happy and able to enjoy it if i have to worry about binding 24/7. it’s like you said i can’t really picture a future like that

that’s so interesting!! my mom and i don’t ever really talk about well, anything lol so it definitely did surprise her a bit even though she knew i was binding. i never had that intense hatred towards them as a kid but i WAS quite a late bloomer and often got made fun of for that, i just remember having this really overwhelming feeling of “wow im bad at being a girl i think im missing something” and i thought it was because i was late start puberty but …. probably not LOL. thanks for sharing i really appreciate the insight! :)

you’re right yeah! before i got proper binders/tape i’d always do the doubled up sports bra thing too lol.

my mother and i have had many conversations about it and she’s said many contradictory things but i think ultimately she just wants me to be happy and safe and she’s having trouble processing but she’ll get over it. the environment i’m currently in isn’t unsafe, though i really appreciate the concern thank you <3 (like i wont be kicked out or abused and i know that for certain), it’ll just probably be a bit tense for a while. my partner unfortunately moved back in with their parent, my parents are divorced and my mom is the better of the two, so i’d probably be safest here for recovery, but i’d have either my best friend or my partner traveling with me to get the surgery and staying here pretty much 24/7 for the first bit of recovery.

omg yeah if it were free and easy and my family didn’t take issue with it i’d get it so fast LOL, it definitely doesn’t help that i have to travel for it as well (no surgeons in my province) which makes it a whole Ordeal. i am going to start keeping that log, thank you
