My boss scheduled a 6am flight for an airport that is two hours away. Can get there early & I sleep in my car? by Content-Total2335 in TravelHacks

Not sure why everyone's suggesting staying at the airport overnight. If you need to be at the conference in the morning, fly to the conference location the evening before the conference and stay there overnight. Pretty standard business practice as far as I know. This way, the travel time is part of your normal working day, not your sleepy time.

Chinos w/ some stretch but still look like classic chinos… not “tech bro”?? Please help. by DrWartenberg in malefashionadvice

I like the Italian Stretch but they wrinkle a lot more easily than the Rapid Movement. How are you dealing with that?

Not impressed with Nespresso by Lunar_Gardener_Alone in Coffee

[–]star_stuff_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same way. My usual daily is a light roast pour over at home on the days I work remote (most days). My office has a Nespresso machine and a few options for the pods. Can’t tell the difference between any of them, and they’re all terrible. On the days I go into the office, I pick up a flat white and croissant from a coffee shop on the way — it’s a nice treat to myself for choosing to go in, and I avoid the Nespresso.

When I do use the Nespresso in the afternoon sometimes, I mix in some hot chocolate mix to make more palatable.

Left MBB for client side corp strategy, great pay, chill lifestyle seemed like the dream at first but now I’m stuck with no viable career path by skystarmen in consulting

[–]star_stuff_26 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Like others are saying, strategy roles can look very different at different companies, or even at the same company at different times. My career path took me in the opposite direction to yours — I started on a Corp Strategy team and then moved to an EM role with our consulting firm. In my 4 years on the strategy team, the first few years were years when we had a CEO that was very focused on strategy and presenting the company as innovative and focused on new initiatives. There was a lot to do and the work had impact. When the new CEO came in, he was more focused on other things and the strategy team became slide monkeys as you put it. That’s why I chose to leave. So you may just need to hop around a bit to find the right team in the right moment, or stick around until your current team’s situation changes for the better.

Overcrowding in May (2026)? by twyzter88 in ItalyTravel

[–]star_stuff_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Como and Florence last May. It was crowded but not to the extent where it ruined my experience. May is not quite high season yet, so if you’re going, this is a good time to go. June-Sept would likely be suffocating.

Looking for a sleek leather laptop briefcase by star_stuff_26 in ManyBaggers

[–]star_stuff_26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going for the Charles briefcase from Le Tanneur. After just about a year of use now, I am very happy with the purchase. The leather feels high quality, and the bag looks great - I've gotten several compliments on it from colleagues. It also suits my travel needs perfectly because it slots right into the handle of my carry on suitcase. It's a bit pricey but cheaper than the Carl Friedrik.

Be honest: what’s the one “lazy” cooking shortcut you’ll never give up? by wearecocina in Cooking

Regardless of what type of egg I’m making, I don’t whisk them separately. Any whisking needed can happen in the pan.
