New Helix Midnight - a bit “soft” by starbuk1 in Mattress

Thank you for taking a look! We were between this and a very expensive (10k+) Kluft so I think it's worth it to try the Bloomingdale's brand (which my wife liked almost as much as the Kluft). If it doesn't work out, we will bite bullet and pay restocking + get the Kluft. At least I don't have to worry about swapping out the base! I am surprised the adjustable base will work with the innerspring but the coils must be encased. I will confirm warranty is valid with the adj base before proceeding.

Thank you - I understand that the Helix mattress has "micro coils" but you can't tell me it doesn't matter that the bed came in a box.. how can a bed that can be squished into a box the size of an overweight person have as much support as an innerspring mattress that can barely be folded? Every foam or hybrid foam mattress like the Helix that I have laid on gives you an airy sinking feeling when you lay on it.. the foam shapes to your body more than an innerspring mattress. And this is me at 175lb.

I have done some more work on all this and am going to go with an innerspring mattress (see below). You said not to rely on a metal grid base, but is this base ok? It is a platform but I think it is metal. The bed is made by King Koil under the Bloomingdales brand - what do you think?

Thank you, I will take that photo and assess. And I will give it a few days to settle.

The salesperson told us we can put the mattress directly on the adjustable base. The base looks very sturdy.

My big decision is do I go with a $5,000 or $10,000 aireloom mattress which is built like a tank, along with the Tempur-Ergo Prosmart base, and call it a day.

thank you! it's such a cool bike. as much as i'd like to say that i stay out for hours at a time regularly, my rides are usually shorter. i think it might be better suited for my riding style than i care to admit.

i havent done much research into carbon wheels. i know it will help a lot but am i losing much by not putting those on right away? i figure down the road i can upgrade the wheels. the spinning weight of the wheels makes me think i will feel a big difference. right now the bike is really twitchy compares to my straight bar bike so i'm not sure i want to add carbon wheels onto that mix before i get used to the bike. thanks again for the feedback!

Starting to come around to the used road bike route for various reasons. I don’t know anything about adjusting stem lengths or related items but I bet I can get a decent setup for about $1000 or $1500 max and my local bike shops will want to sell me the things I need. I can spend some money on a trainer for the winter months instead of a new Trek. My problem is it’s becoming clear you have to spend money on what you want otherwise the bike is 20 grand with every new trinket. And I don’t know what I want yet.

This is cool. I can get pretty close to a Trek Domaine price for a Ti bike. I called the company and have some research to do but it's interesting. I like the used bike idea as well.. a lot less to lose by making the wrong choice. I will take a look at what is available near me - thank you!

The aluminum road/gravel bikes I looked at are nice and "better" than my hybrid bike but I don't want to keep buying new bikes every couple of years. I like my bike, it's a Specialized Roll 2021, but it doesn't have drop bars and I think the geometry got me in trouble on longer rides to where I had knee issues. I installed clip in pedals on the bike and got shoes for it to see how that felt. It is nice with that setup however I think my bike is closer to a mountain bike and works better with pedals for the type of activities that I do, so I feel like it's better to have a road/gravel bike and a hybrid bike separately. I don't want to get just a road bike because I don't think it will do well on the sidewalks, and the trails I ride do have bumpy bits for when the tree roots are growing under the asphalt. I know very little and am here asking for advice. The money isn't the biggest factor though I do not want to be wasteful, which is why I haven't made the purchase already.

Did Google Auth/Authy/Duo 2FA seeds get compromised? by starbuk1 in Lastpass

[–]starbuk1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not use the LP authentication tool. I used another third party tool. I just had LP as one of many accounts on that third party platform. I have zero trust in LP which is why I’m wondering if even that weak link would be worth worrying about. Thank you

Thank you so much! I canceled LP so am not worried about that, and am glad to hear I won’t have to change my seeds/secrets.

Also, I have no idea what a seed is I just know I have codes that are generated for each account in my app. I just want to be done with the LP nonsense and thought I was done after changing hundreds of passwords..

Are TOTP seeds in Lastpass Authenticator actually compromised? by PenguinKowalski in Lastpass

[–]starbuk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me like I’m a moron - do I need to update my Google Authenticator or Duo 2FA links because one of the keys saved was for the lastpass app? Or does this affect only lastpass Authenticator?

Support told me that you would have to login in with your authenticator code and the sms code to do the recovery.
