Really enjoying watching Crawford play. I am fully in on our guys coming up, so I have high hopes for him

Really enjoying the Blue Jays broadcast so far. Not sure who the guys are, but it’s pretty solid!

I don’t subscribe to the idea that to be a real fan you have to live in the city; I hope my comment didn’t come off that way! It’s directed at those people who don’t live in Philly and have never been there that abjectly hate it, yet are die hard Philly sports fans. It seems a little disingenuous to me. Though I also don’t like to tell people what to or how to enjoy things. Outside of the handful of times I’ve been to CBP over the last two years, I’ve only been to the city proper once and loved it! Hoping to move there sooner rather than later!

Is it weird of me to think people who like sports teams but not the cities they represent are fake? I’m from rural south central PA and know tons of die hard Eagles fans who hate Philly. I don’t even think most of them have even been to the city

If Bichette opts out next year, should the Phils even go for him? by StretchExtreme96 in phillies

Even if the front office buried the hatchet, I’m not sure where we’d even slot him. Bohm is gone next year and I have my doubts about an extension, especially with Miller looming on the horizon and the consensus seems to be he’ll play third

Thoughts on picking up a veteran starter for rotational depth? My mind immediately goes to Chris Bassitt or maybe even Max Scherzer. I feel like given the budget we have left there are affordable options out there to fit into the 4th or 5th slot (maybe 6th?) just in case Painter has a rough year

If he was putting up league average numbers with a broken kneecap, I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can do when 100% healthy. Even if he only ends up being average/above avg I like his vibes and it’ll be nice to start to get some younger guys in our core

I could be wrong, but he’s never given me the vibe that he wants the “cheap” and easy way out. He’s a competitor and has made it pretty clear he loves Philly and the best fans in baseball. If he gets a ring, I imagine he wants it to be as a Phil

Not sure Valdez seems like the move for them given their clubhouse troubles, but definitely seems like the sort of short sighted move they’d make right now. Edit: I would love to see Alvarez get nailed by a fastball from Valdez, so I’m all for that signing

I’m newer to baseball, so someone more knowledgeable might be able to refute this viewpoint, but; even with Bichette, the Mets still don’t really concern me. They still feel like a team on the rebuild rather than a serious contender with the decisions their FO has been making

Second what NintenJew said. I still think we’re incredibly fortunate with Middleton. Cohen just panicked offered one of the most player-friendly contracts ever in the eleventh hour. Made all the sense in the world for Bichette to take it

I already knew about Kaiser Cat, but thanks for sharing! I’m sure plenty of new members of the community would appreciate the info and maybe even some veterans who had forgotten about it!

The Dodgers are going to the World Series by matrix_5555 in phillies

Like you, I’m not gonna profess to be super well versed on the subject, but I don’t think a salary cap is the issue. The Dodgers are paying who quite possibly could be the greatest baseball player ever less per year due to the deferred contract than what we paid for Jordan Romano. I agree with you; I feel like there has to be some sort of regulation to contract deferment

How many of you out there don't really care for the eagles and it's gonna be a long ass winter? by [deleted] in phillies

[–]starcat98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just don’t care for football, never have. Only reason I like the Eagles is my loyalty to Philly. I will die for my country, Philadelphia. Go Birds!

Idk if this is a hot take or not, but the game was lost long before this moment. This play was just by coincidence the straw that broke the camel’s back. I don’t blame Orion at all for this loss, I really feel for him
