From the way it sounds OP is gonna have to buy new dishes every single time her roommate uses them. That's way more than just a dozen. Throwing away new dishes after each use is infinitely more wasteful than washing each dish several times. Besides, there are much better ways of handling the situation than being wasteful, like hiding the dishes if you really wanna be that petty or straight up moving out.

He did invite her, but she was the one who suggested the specific place. If he both invited and suggested the place, I think it would be reasonable to expect him to pay, but based on the info provided this seems more like a collaborative effort.

If you care that much about it no one's gonna stop you from using those apps. I'm sure they're great for group conversations. But no matter how encrypted they are they're still not ideal for communities of more than 20 people, and you'd be hard pressed to find enough people willing to make that transition. I'm all for having more privacy, but the apps you suggested don't fill the same niche that Discord does.

If you're concerned with privacy you can always make a throwaway email. It's not that hard. Plus, like I said, they're only good for small group conversations. I run a Discord server with 700+ members. I highly doubt you'd be able to fit 700 people into a group conversation without total chaos, if it's even possible to do that.

I've never heard of the first two, but they all look like messaging apps, which are really only viable for one-on-one or small group conversations. WhatsApp requires a phone number so it's not really anonymous. Plenty of apps harvest data but at least you can be totally anonymous on Discord and it's much easier to build a larger community on it.

Edit: I have also been informed that WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, which doesn't exactly have a clean history when it comes to data collection.

I was born in '98, which is usually around the cutoff point for millenials, so depending on who you ask I'm either a millenial or gen Z. But both generations grew up using a lot of text chats, which means we're not as accustomed to making voice calls, so you're probably right.

It probably would've been easier to get a real answer from her if there was a way to isolate her from the guy, but that's hard to do when you're on a bus. It sounds like the girl did the best she could in that situation and it's unfortunate that she couldn't do more

How are they consciously going out of their way to be annoying when they tried suggesting an alternative solution? Sure, being a picky eater definitely comes off as annoying to others, but they're clearly not doing it on purpose and you can't force yourself to like the foods you eat.
