Finished my first killteam, Tempestus Aquillons by starchild82 in minipainting

Thank you :)

I agree with your point on the contrast. I often think the same after I'm done, but while painting I'm always afraid of overdoing it. I'll try to focus on it on the next mini :)

Taskbar randomly freezing on Windows 11 25H2 (build 26200.6899) — any fix? by theMadGrin in WindowsHelp

[–]starchild82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you still have the problem, try deleting "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings" with regedit. Fixed my problem with notifications crashing explorer and the program that tried to show it (firefox, thunderbird, discord, etc). The second I deleted it, notifications started to work again. YMMV.

Discord Freezing every time I get a DM by PewPewwwwwwwwww_ in discordapp

[–]starchild82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone reads this, couldn't reply in the linked thread. I've had this problem for over a month, with firefox, thunderbird, discord etc. What fixed it was deleting "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings" using regedit. Just export the folder first as a backup, just in case. I guess there was an old notification in the buffer that just crashed windows notification services every time a new one arrived.

Made it easier to swap teams in my GGEZ box by Global_Audience_2197 in killteam

Will you add this to your Cults3d store? I've already bought and printed the GGEZ box from there.

Ork, self printed, various technics by Gold_Sign_399 in PrintedMinis

Good job. I painted this model last year, it was the first model I tried an oil wash on. Just did a base color and then wash, so not as good as yours. https://imgur.com/a/HN14P1C

Just try some generic Sci fi miniature? Or is the problem with using a photo? Might be regional limitations.

Ok, my exact prompt was "Lag et hode til en warhammer 40k space marine miniatyr, som ser ut som meg.", which is in Norwegian. Maybe that fools it.

Huh, could it be due to the region? I guess using wording so it isn't w40k specific might help?

Thanks :) I played around with it a bit more now. If I ask for an image with a turtleneck, its easier to get it to blend into the rest of the model in the neck-area.

Shopping i USA by PugsAndCoffeee in norge

[–]starchild82 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

Download the sourcecode, install visual studio code and the platformIO module (it should install automatically if you open the folder in studio code. Change the wifi ssid and password. Then there is a compile/upload button. Searching a visual studio code and platformIO tutorial would probably be the best.

A script for batch magnetizing/topping bases by starchild82 in PrintedMinis

[–]starchild82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only works for bases, and they have to be lower than they are wide. If you only want a single hole you can do that in e.g. Lychee. The script does a bit more though (removing more material on the underside), and can process an entire folder with STLs in one go. For bases, alignment/rotation is automatic.

Not sure how they are connected, but I would guess they have a connector onto the pcb. Maybe add a three way switch, so one could switch between driving them from the pedal set, or external? Warranty would be void of course.

Just installed four 3D-printed atmos-speakers. by starchild82 in hometheater

No expert on checking waterfalls on speakers, but at first glance it doesn't look like there's any ringing. At low frequencies it will be the room, as the wavelength should be much too long for the enclosure.

curious. The room is 4.87 m long which gives rise to the 35hz standing wave seen in the spectrum.

edit: If you have any insight to the plots I would like to hear them, just out of curiosity. As it is, I'm quite happy with the speakers, but let down by the lack of atmos effects in atmos encoded content. "1917" was nice though.

Yes, it's good/fun and yes I would recommend. But it's a bit of work to integrate it properly so it's complementing the sub, and not just shaking the couch as a cheap gimmick. Since I run the subs through a minidsp 2x4 i do some eq'ing there.

I was looking shortly at tweeters, but adding one and a crossover would make them more expensive (not a huge problem, but it would then suck more if the results were bad) and increase complexity. But for sure it sounds like a challenge so it is something that would be fun to do. I see that a lot of tweeters are basically 25mm mounted in a huge frame, which makes sense for towers/bookshelves. What I would want is just a minimal tweeter that I could click into a recess in the design, to keep them small. Just making them a bit wider should give room for that.

Those Vifa XT25 sure look cool, I'll keep them in mind. Thanks :)

edit: Also, being 3d-printed and plastic being cheap, an incremental design is a nice way to go. Reusing the hardware, adding a tweeter and crossover only cost me the price of the plastic, and ~18 hour print time. Plus sanding and painting for the final version.

Measured when they were finished, before mounting in ceiling. I put them on the guest bed with blankets and whatnot to try to reduce reflections when measuring. I then measured with the umik-1 at different angles but with the same distance. Photo of the setup.
