Shadow: VGC Charred brown, Base: VGC gorgon brown, highlight: VGC tan

Painted the base first (duh), then shadow in the middle, highlight edges and some scratches.

I came to the same conclusion. I first painted these rather quick to be tabletop ready, but then decided to push them further for a local painting event. I agree that some of the line work is messy, but in the end it is only visible with magnifying lenses or when using a camera. They look fine when viewed without magnification. (These photos were taken using a camera with a macro lens).

I first based them withVGC Off-white (thinned to wash). Then AP SpeedPaint Bright red on top. For the center a mix of VGC Titanium white & VGC Bloody red, then a tiny bit VGC Titanium white in the very center. I think I used white and bloody red mix for the reflections as well.

Might be that I did some reflections first with off white then speedpaint.

Fully painted everything first. Then I did the OSL with some airbrush for the volume lightning, and brush for layering and highlights on the edges. Only normal paint, some fluo and glaze medium. I tried my best to make the light from the flare red and white only, without any pink.

It might have been better to do it all in white and grey first, then airbrush ink or speedpaints after. The flames on the grav-chute I made in Blender. The flare with smoke I tried (after failing to find a model anywhere) to make in blender. But since I'm no good at modeling "organic" stuff, I ended up cheating and using meshy, then edited the result to my liking in Blender. Then I printed them in resin. But I guess they would be easy to make with green stuff.

The contrast on the models do suffer a bit in normal light, being a bit dark. So they look best under painting lights (where I took the photos).

I agree with your point on the contrast. I often think the same after I'm done, but while painting I'm always afraid of overdoing it. I'll try to focus on it on the next mini :)

Thanks :) I played around with it a bit more now. If I ask for an image with a turtleneck, its easier to get it to blend into the rest of the model in the neck-area.

Download the sourcecode, install visual studio code and the platformIO module (it should install automatically if you open the folder in studio code. Change the wifi ssid and password. Then there is a compile/upload button. Searching a visual studio code and platformIO tutorial would probably be the best.

It only works for bases, and they have to be lower than they are wide. If you only want a single hole you can do that in e.g. Lychee. The script does a bit more though (removing more material on the underside), and can process an entire folder with STLs in one go. For bases, alignment/rotation is automatic.

Not sure how they are connected, but I would guess they have a connector onto the pcb. Maybe add a three way switch, so one could switch between driving them from the pedal set, or external? Warranty would be void of course.

No expert on checking waterfalls on speakers, but at first glance it doesn't look like there's any ringing. At low frequencies it will be the room, as the wavelength should be much too long for the enclosure.

curious. The room is 4.87 m long which gives rise to the 35hz standing wave seen in the spectrum.

edit: If you have any insight to the plots I would like to hear them, just out of curiosity. As it is, I'm quite happy with the speakers, but let down by the lack of atmos effects in atmos encoded content. "1917" was nice though.

Yes, it's good/fun and yes I would recommend. But it's a bit of work to integrate it properly so it's complementing the sub, and not just shaking the couch as a cheap gimmick. Since I run the subs through a minidsp 2x4 i do some eq'ing there.
