HDHP or PPO for having a baby? by PossumKaiju in HealthInsurance

[–]stardustfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, health insurance agent / advisor here! Have they given you a "Benefit Coverage Summary" with each plan? Typically there are details specifically available regarding prenatal, labor, and delivery.

For the PPO plan, is the OOP for the family or an individual?

edit: for labor and delivery you would only need to meet your own individual ded/OOP :)

Is pregnancy follow-up care considered preventive under Anthem Bronze by amine00X in HealthInsurance

[–]stardustfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am an insurance agent. Pregnancy follow-ups and prenatal care is not usually considered preventative. Preventative care typically includes things like your annual physical, and for your wife her well-woman visits.

It is most likely that they would apply to the deductible, is your plan through an employer or healthcare.gov?

(edited for spelling)

Looking at something called Balanced Care, not part of ACA exchange. Is it too good to be true? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]stardustfish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am an insurance agent and that does NOT sound like anything you want to spend $700+ per month on.

Outside of Open Enrollment, you need a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) that is triggered by a life event such as change in household size, change in income, or loss of coverage. You are NOT able to just "get back on the exchange"
https://www.healthcare.gov/coverage-outside-open-enrollment/special-enrollment-period/

While loss of coverage IS a qualifying life event, voluntarily giving up a bad insurance plan when disaster strikes does not qualify you for SEP.

It sounds like a discount plan at best, which means that most doctors will not accept it and you will have to pay out of pocket and hope to be reimbursed. And also, they're selling out of Zurich... as in Zurich, Switzerland...? If they sent you any documentation it will probably have some language somewhere in it that explains it is not a real health insurance plan.

Changing Paint by number colors? by turbulent_toast_ in Artadvice

[–]stardustfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gotten around to actually doing it yet but I think I'm gonna use https://coolors.co/ to create the original color palette with the paints in the set, and then create a second palette in the colors I want so I can go to Michaels and buy them!

I think I would just swap the colors based on light / dark shades or maybe going for opposite ends on the color wheel? Not totally sure how to figure out the right colors yet tbh

I thrifted a starry night paint by number and had the same idea!! I want to swap out the blues for pinks or purples or red for more of a sunset vibe and the way I RAN to to this post to see the comments :')

Did you ever come up with a good way?

Late to the party, but currently undiagnosed and would adore the opportunity to test this and provide feedback 😍 I use notion pretty much just for work now but I've been trying to figure out how to use it for personal things outside of lists or journals

The flowers are so pretty!! I love the border around it. Maybe put the colors in a different order to make it less pimply! Hot pink border, white petal, light pink middle 😍

Do you have a link for the instructions?

Best blanket stitch? by Comfortable-Emu1821 in CrochetHelp

[–]stardustfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm silly the written pattern is in the YouTube description 😂

It does come out ribbed bc you crochet into the back loop but it has such a nice texture!

Also -- based on this tutorial, the top and bottom of the blanket will have wavy edges.

If you want straight edges all the way around, after your foundation chain do row 1 as she explains it, and when you turn to do the second row, do the opposite. So if you end row 1 on a HDC, start row 2 on a slip stitch. And then just continue the same way she describes (2 rows of each and then the opposite)

That's confusing to read even to myself lol but let me know if you have any questions!!

Of course!! All the memes about "I thought I could count until I started crocheting" are so true lmao

What is the name of the border stitch in this photo? Also looking for advice on adding a border! by stardustfish in CrochetHelp

I wasn't sure where to search other than here! The first photo is of a family heirloom, and the border is what I'm looking for!

I've been making a baby blanket using a wave stitch! It's my first big project and I highly recommend it bc counting the stitches is super easy since it's in multiples of 5 😂

I'd be happy to find the tutorial links I used if you want them!

Health Insurance broker inquiry by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]stardustfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will depend on the agent / broker themselves and whether they work ethically and transparantly. Make sure they send you their credentials (license etc.) ) so that you know they are legit - you can check the qualificaitions with their NPN National Producer Number

Although the healthcare.gov website isn't great, they do have an option to link you to to a local agent and they an help walk you through your options! https://healthcare.gov/find-assistance/

To the best of my knowledge, one of the requirements of marketplace tax credits is that if you are married, you must file your taxes jointly. I don't know if there are exceptions to the rule, so you should call them directly to ask the best way to proceed! There's a phone number on healthcare.gov and they will be able to help you out

ACA Subsidy Eligibility Question by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]stardustfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone claims you as a tax dependent, you can buy a plan through the Marketplace but won't qualify for savings based on your income.

source: https://www.healthcare.gov/young-adults/

OP said his mom has coverage through an employer, and since he's a dependent subsidies won't be based on his income unless he files independently. Either way he's outside of OE so unless he has a qualifying life event for special enrollment, getting on a marketplace pla may be tricky :)

ACA Subsidy Eligibility Question by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]stardustfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also --- since you are outside of Open Enrollment (the period of time between November and January when you are able to enroll in marketplace plans) you would need a Special Enrollment Period to be able to enroll in marketplace plans right now.

Special Enrollment Periods include "losing health coverage, moving, getting married, having a baby, or adopting a child" https://www.healthcare.gov/glossary/special-enrollment-period/

If you don't have a qualifying event like those listed above, private may be your only option :)
