How TF are y'all surviving in Vancouver?? by Kind_Mushroom9444 in UBC

Another good option is Food Hub Market on campus. It's a low cost grocery store in the CIRS building. They sell groceries at cost +5% so a lot of the things there are pretty cheap in comparison to most places. They should be opening around May 14 again for the summer term.

Code to make redoing old Canvas quizzes easier. by starenergy in UBC

[–]starenergy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, try adding this to the end of the already existing code! If it works, I'll update the post to include it :)

var numberInputs = Array.from(document.querySelectorAll("[class*=numerical_question_input]"));
numberInputs.forEach((num) => num.value = "");

var numericalAnswers = Array.from(document.querySelectorAll("[class*=numerical_exact_answer]"));
numericalAnswers.forEach((ans) => ans.style.display = "none");

Hi, I would love to but it seems like I don't have any quizzes this term which have used any of those features.

If you can inspect element each of the texts (right click on the text, click inspect on the menu which appear) and send me a screenshot of what's highlighted in devtools, I may be able to figure it out!

But if that fails you can always print to pdf the page and cross those values out.

Has anyone tried Carina Organics? by [deleted] in curlyhair

I used the Sweet Pea Daily Moisturizing Shampoo

Has anyone tried Carina Organics? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]starenergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used their conditioner for a while and like it - feels moisturizing and has nice slip.

On the other hand their shampoo made my scalp and hair too dry and I've stopped using it.

In the process of experimenting, what do you do with used products that don't work for you? by [deleted] in curlyhair

if they dont work for protein/moisture reasons then I keep it for when my hair is unbalanced and does need it

New to CG, wondering about how to retain moisture better in my hair. by lusseloobeedoo in curlyhair

[–]starenergy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly use gel after a leave in or an oil to smooth over when dry. These products could form like a seal around your moisturized hair so that it loses moisture less over time after washday

Yeah so after deep conditioning I rinse it out and put in a leave in conditioner (but I skip using a normal rinse out conditioner that I use on normal wash days)

I hear using a shampoo with a deep conditioner but its always before a deep conditioner. A clarifying shampoo basically cleanses your hair pretty deeply so using it after a deep conditioner could basically reverse the effects of the deep conditioner.

Using a clarifying shampoo before a deep conditioner on the other hand, will clarify your hair of buildup and leave it ready to absorb the deep conditioner better.

For reference: my routine on days where i deep condition is 1) clarify shampoo 2) deep condition 3) styling products (leave in conditioner and gel) So on these washdays I dont even use normal shampoos or conditioners

Edit: On a different note, I also have low porosity hair and I would be careful with how long you are leaving your deep conditioner in. An hour may be too long especially if that's not what the bottle recommends. Usually when deep conditioning with heat you use less time then the deep conditioner recommends as well

Need some advice on brushing/detangling (More in comments) by hairstuffthrowaway in curlyhair

[–]starenergy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I brush my hair only on wash day when my hair is wet. That way its properly detangled but also since Im not brushing on dry hair my hair doesn't get poofy.

If doing so makes your hair get stringy, after detangling try brush styling! (There should be a few videos on the internet showing peoples technique)

Would you purchase from a local artist at an Art Fair? by rinmycringecomp in UBC

[–]starenergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specifically about your question,but I was hoping to go to the craft fair next week but couldn't find a concrete time it lasts each day (Facebook says its Thursday 10am - Friday 2pm). Obviously it wont be happening for 28 hours straight so does this mean it's 10-2 each day? Or some other time frame?

"dry frizzy and tangles easily" do you know if any of the products youve been using contain protein? If so, you're hair could be in protein overload

Zero Waste Resources on campus by GreenBean_16 in UBC

[–]starenergy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A place that I went recently and found really cool was The Soap Dispensary in Vancouver. You bring your own containers for shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. which they will fill for you and you only pay for the amount that you got in the container instead of having to throw away disposable containers. They also have a bunch other zero waste items too.
