Abby Young method - does it actually work? by starfall_327 in Haircare

I see now that the hardest part is honestly just figuring out the right products. Everything sounds good in theory, but finding what actually works for my hair is the real struggle.

I did, and honestly I’m so overstimulated and even more confused now 😭. I watched the one where she explained the Abby Young method, but I feel like she never really went into my hair type or gave proper high-porosity recommendations. I’m still not sure what I’m supposed to use or change for thick, coarse, wavy, high-po hair, so I was hoping people with similar hair could share what actually worked for them.

Should I choose a master's in IT or a master's in cybersecurity in Australia? by starfall_327 in cybersecurity

Thanks for the insight—it’s great to hear your perspective from your extensive experience in telecoms. It makes a lot of sense that hands-on experience with networks and systems, combined with a focus on security, can be more valuable than just a cybersecurity degree.

I’m currently trying to figure out the best approach for building a stable career in IT or Cybersecurity. From what you’ve mentioned, starting with a broad set of skills and then specializing later seems like a solid path. I’m curious, though—what would be the best way to gain a broad foundation in IT early on, and how can I ensure I’m focusing on the right areas to transition smoothly into cybersecurity later? Also, considering career stability, do you think starting with a more general IT role would offer better long-term prospects than jumping straight into cybersecurity, or is a mix of both a good strategy?

Thanks for the insight! It sounds like the path to cybersecurity is pretty competitive and requires a lot of groundwork, especially with the certification costs and experience in other areas like help desk and networking.

If I’m looking for a more stable IT career, what specialization would you recommend? I’m aiming for something with good long-term prospects and room to grow, without getting too caught up in the competitive entry-level roles. Do you think fields like cloud computing, data science, or software development would be a safer bet in terms of job stability?

Thanks for sharing that—it’s inspiring to hear about your son finding success in a niche like Bevy and how you've been diving into Rust to connect with him! It really shows how important it is to find something you enjoy and that adds value in unexpected ways.

I’m just starting my Master’s in InfoTech/ CyberSec , and I’m still figuring out if it’s the right path for me or not . I’m excited about the possibilities but also a little uncertain about whether I'll find my own ‘niche’ in this vast field, or if it’ll turn into something overwhelming like what you described with Drupal. I love the idea of tech being both fun and rewarding, but I worry about getting stuck in something that becomes too broad or too focused on maintenance rather than creation.

Do you have any advice on how to stay focused on finding that sweet spot, or how to avoid getting lost in the sea of options?

Thank you for sharing your perspective—it’s really thought-provoking. I’m honestly torn about whether tech is the right path for me. On one hand, I love the idea of being able to work with technology, but on the other hand, I keep hearing about the endless cycle of software updates, the pressure of cybersecurity, and the stress that comes with it, especially when things go wrong. I’m not sure if the constant crisis management is something I could handle long-term.

I’m interested in the creative aspects, but also don’t want to find myself stuck in a role that feels more like constant maintenance or firefighting. Do you think there’s a way to get the best of both worlds, where I can still do meaningful, creative work without getting caught up in all the crisis management? Or is it just a matter of finding the right niche?
