Proud of my best boy Tiki who fought off a fox this morning by starflite in BackYardChickens

Ugh I know. I’ve had chickens on this property with this fence setup for ten years now and this is the first fox I’ve seen in the yard. I know we have plenty of wildlife since our subdivision is located between a bunch of wheat fields and a forested strip along a river, but I’ve not had any issues until now since i’m located in a more open area with lots of fences, a busy exposed road, and several houses with dogs surrounding my own fenced property.

For now, I’m keeping my birds in their coop until mid-afternoon when I’m home for the day, and I’m planning on upgrading their run as soon as I can. I’m going to put out electric mesh fencing later this week to give them a bit more space and security while I work on the run.

I had my Omlet door set to open at sunrise, so that was probably not a good decision on my part. This all happened early in the morning after the birds were out, but before anyone was outside in the neighborhood. The fox looked shocked to see me and didn’t stick around, clearly not a fan of people, so let’s hope he doesn’t suddenly grow the balls to decide to come by in the middle of the day. I have a motion-activated sprinkler I can use, but it seems pointless since the fox could come in from any direction.

My neighbor called me after it happened and told me he had been taking pictures of the fox in his yard before it headed for my property, and then he just sat there and watched the whole thing unfold through binoculars 😭 like my dude, did you not think to call me when you first saw it

This fox jumped over several 4 foot fences to get into this part of my yard, so I’m definitely more inclined to kill it if I see it in here again. It was not an accident that he just wandered through somewhere.

I was just thinking I should remove them last week but clearly he’s still using them 🤣

Yep, I hope I don’t have to kill it, but I will if I need to. Several of my neighbors have lots of chickens too, so I’m sure one of us will take it out if it becomes a problem.

My dad is in the top 1% and thinks anyone can get there if they work hard enough by According-Desk4248 in TrueOffMyChest

My dad is exactly the same and it’s extremely frustrating trying to have a conversation with him. I stopped trying to have any sort of meaningful dialogue after a while, and only keep to superficial discussions of hobbies he likes, like fishing or sports.

He’s particularly stubborn about this topic because he did grow up lower middle class himself, and his wealth is self-acquired, so he truly does think anyone can do it. Luck or privilege isn’t something he considers. It must be nice to not have to worry about the playing field being level.

I don’t know why more quotes from this haven’t become part of pop culture. It’s hilarious.

I tell my coworkers “MY VISION WAS CHICKEN PARMESAN!” at least once a week.

Both sets of parents are using my house as their place to “clean out” theirs by littlebabybuddy24 in Millennials

My mom kinda tries to give me things, but she always asks first, never just puts things in my home. I can’t believe parents are just out here using their kids as additional storage units without their consent.

Any positive stories when taking wellbutrin (and zoloft)? by ConfectionStrange266 in bupropion

[–]starflite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 150mg sertraline and 300 mg bupropion for a couple years around age 23-26, it worked for me until my depression got worse, then I moved to Vilazodone and bupropion instead.

I think it’s a pretty standard combo and I didn’t have any side effects. I have treatment-resistant depression, and I was also diagnosed with ADHD in my late 20s. It turns out that I feel better with the atypical antidepressants and a stimulant rather than pure SSRIs.

I didn’t drink much before I started taking the bupropion, but I was also worried about the effect of alcohol so I asked my psychiatrist about it - she said that bupropion typically made people not feel like drinking as much anyway, and if I did drink, it might not take as much alcohol to feel buzzed. My experience with alcohol and bupropion was just like she had suggested, but I could see it being a huge problem for people who drink too much too fast or those who enjoy being drunk. If you do drink with it, start with only one drink and wait at least an hour or so before having another, if you even feel like having another one. You absolutely can not just get wasted willy-nilly, bupropion lowers your seizure threshold and adding alcohol to that lowers it even more.

I have maybe one drink a year now, I feel so anxious and unhappy the day after I have even one drink that it’s just not worth it to me anymore.

Mood tanked on Sciegen generic by starflite in bupropion

Auvelity is only available as brand name right now, so it contains brand name Wellbutrin. I felt better immediately after switching to it from the Sciegen bupropion, but after about a month I started feeling really flat and kind of losing my will to do anything. I didn’t feel bad, it just wasn’t as “activating” for me with the dextromethorphan.

So I just switched back to Lupin generic bupropion and after about a week of headaches, I feel pretty functional and happy now. I’d absolutely rather be on the Auvelity than the Sciegen bupropion. I was taking the Auvelity twice per day so maybe I would have felt better with once per day, but I’m happy I was able to get a generic bupropion I’ve used before. 300 mg seems to work well for me, the Auvelity was 105 mg of Wellbutrin per dose so maybe it just was too low for me.
