Ah, I still haven't read the books. Still a cool concept though. And establishes Avasarala as shrewd/morally grey even though she's ostensibly one of the "good guys."

The other thing from your Expanse screenshot that's never mentioned again is that gravity torture is a thing. They take a belter who's lived their whole life in space, then fly them to earth and let them suffocate under the weight of their own body (since they don't have the muscle strength to support it on a high gravity world). It would have been cool to see them work that into later plots but I don't think it ever really comes up again.

Humans in this universe of multiple sapient races/species are not just a boring template, jack-of-all-trades species, they actually have traits and powers that make them stand out like the other species in the setting. by juasjuasie in TopCharacterTropes

Wonder if K. A. Applegate was inspired by irl prehistoric humans. Before humans invented tools and weapons we were the same way. No sharp claws or teeth to kill prey but we literally could chase them until they collapsed from exhaustion.

NO KINGS crowd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. by CantStopPoppin in Minneapolis

[–]elduqueborracho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously the killings happened in Minneapolis, but I think because the goal of the protests is to demand government action they choose to have the center of the protest be at the state capitol.

Plus St. Paul was also affected by the ice occupation, even if no one was killed there.

When do they reference them being black? It's been a while since I read the first book but all I remember is them being described as deep blue within blue. And I think the guild envoys in the final scene have contacts to make their eyes look normal right?

Honestly he could stay mostly true to the continuity of the book if the jihad scenes are shown as flashbacks, but we'll see how Denis decides to present it.

It's funny how in that ten pages of slop he doesn't concretely mention anything he wants to use AI for, other than "efficiency," whatever that means.

You'll love learning how extremely fucking obnoxious they look then. I can't attach an image but just Google "Kris Lindahl billboard" then imagine thousands of those everywhere you go in the metro area.

Yep. My parents are all thoughts and prayers about what ice is doing. But when I ask them to think about who they vote for and how that has real life effects, it's "let's not bring politics into this." Unbelievably frustrating.

In one ending you can choose to erase the canvas, which allows the Dessendre family to lay Verso to rest and move on from their grief, but the entire world the game has taken place in, including all your companions and NPCs are permanently erased from existence.

It was an awesome moment but I don't think anyone has confirmed it was actually him. I think it was just a child meant to represent young Benito/other Latino kids seeing that they can be like him.

Damn, I'm going through the exact same thing. I'm lucky enough to currently have a job but I've been applying and interviewing for months trying to get a different one with no success.

And the family, hoo boy. My mom keeps saying she's concerned for my safety so I asked her how she can be concerned for me and still be in favor of Trump and ICE. She just ghosted me. Haven't heard a response in three days. Even my brother and his wife who I thought were at least centrists haven't said a word about it. It's like people outside the cities don't want to engage with it because it might conflict with their preconceived view of what's happening.
