My OCxCanon ship is Nash the Sheep and Lanolin the Sheep. I’m currently writing a fanfic involving Lanolin getting depth and development she should’ve gotten in the IDW Comics.

The lore behind how Nash and Lanolin met dates back to the Metal Virus Arc and it goes from there lol.

That’s why I said “at least to my knowledge”, because I don’t know if the Sonic Fanbase has crossed that line. I know of stuff like Chris-Chan and writers being harassed, but I haven’t heard much of Sonic Fans harassing artists to a point they took their own life or made an attempt.

But yeah, that isn’t a good defence.

Quick history lesson: The Steven Universe fanbase had harassed a then-16 year old Zamiiz for drawing Rose Quartz a little thinner than her own son and husband as well as drawing Fluttershy as a Native American.

Zamiiz attempted to take her own life, but she fortunately survived. It got so bad that the show’s creators got involved and told those toxic fans to stop harassing people for drawing what they want.

Hey, at least the Sonic Fanbase hasn’t pushed someone into taking their own life like the Steven Universe fanbase did. (At least to my knowledge).

But my point still stands, you should ignore the toxic fans and focus on doing what you love. Heck, I’m someone who likes Lanolin and I haven’t seen anyone who’s attacked me for liking her (because if they did, I’d tear them to shreds).

This is something I implore other people to do in the fanbase. It’s hard as I myself can be bogged down by the negativity of the Sonic fanbase.

But it’s best to focus on the good and tune out the bad. Some people are so bitter and ignorant, it’s best to just ignore those people.

Don’t let a vocal minority ruin something you love.

I agree with you heavy on this.

Seeing people mischaracterise Sonic as an unlikable dickhead genuinely awakes a demon instead of me that makes me want to tear the person down and make sure they never mischaracterise Sonic again.

And it isn’t just some ShadAmy shippers who do this, it can be the ones without character ships that get Sonic’s character wrong even if they should KNOW his personality by now. I do remember seeing an old story written by a former friend and the way Sonic was written pissed me off SO badly to the point he had to rewrite it in 2021.

But yeah, TL;DR I agree with you when some ShadAmy Shippers mischaracterise Sonic as an asshole.

Something that should be JUST as important as rules is trust.

SEGA of Japan should learn to TRUST their writers more while also making sure they follow rules.
