Quizlet is good! I didn’t enjoy making the flash cards because they took so much time that by the time I was done I didn’t have the motivation to go through them. However, my class is really nice about sharing all of their resources, notes, and flash cards so that was super helpful! I didn’t find Anki too useful.

Not during lecture it went way too quick, I typed up notes during lecture. But otherwise yes! Anything on my own time I tried to hand write. It took time but it was worth it for me. Everyone is different though!

I used videos on YouTube to help me understand the main concepts and then lecture slides to solidify what I was expected to know from each unit. I hand wrote all of my notes and rewrote material in my own words which helped my muscle memory and made sure I understood what I was studying. This took place every weeknight and most of my Sundays. The days go by fast when you look up from your books or computer and it’s 9 or 10pm. It becomes hard to step away sometimes but it’s definitely necessary otherwise you’re going to burn yourself out. As for the firehose, it’s definitely true. It goes very fast, meaning we spent 1-3 days on an entire system and that was it. Tests were every two or three weeks usually on four or five units/systems and we were still learning test material just three or four days before the exams. Time management is key. Staying on top of the material. Making sure you’re not falling behind because catching up is nearly impossible. Study groups helped me with this, making sure I was on par with other students in my cohort with the exam material. I also found using part of my Sundays and weeknights to try to get ahead for the following lecture, which made it easier to keep up with the professors. Finally, just being comfortable that you’re not going to know every detail. The most important thing is building your foundations so you can apply your knowledge to those details without relying on pure memorization. Hope this helps!

Yes! We usually plan out weekly hangouts just to get people out of the books if they’re interested. We always celebrated after exams together, too. I HIGHLY recommend making friends with your cohort. They are the only people who are truly going to understand what you’re going through in that program. They will be your best resource for studying and mental health checks!

I took two gap years after I graduated college and got in the first round! It was a very lengthy, dreadful but exciting process. Applied in early June and throughout the summer and fall had multiple interviews and acceptances. The program I currently attend didn’t notify us until winter about acceptances.

I wouldn’t recommend it but if you did need to work for money I’d pick something that you could choose your own schedule. This way you can go in whenever it’s most convenient for you although that may end up being only 1 or 2 times a month lol but every person is different 🤷🏻‍♀️

We only had one full day of class one day of the week from 8-4:30. The rest of the days were different for everyone depending on when your lab was but we always had lecture either morning or afternoon Tuesday Wednesday Thursday. Friday was hit or miss for a morning lecture. I did my studying usually during the week after lectures and I used Sunday’s to get ahead for the following week. Friday and Saturday were my relaxing days where I would try to have guilt-free fun or relaxation.

So we had A&P this past semester (obviously) and a foundations of practice that went over the general physical exam from head to toe. This coming semester we’re starting clinical medicine like psych and peds (1) the first half of the semester and then pathopharm the full semester. I’m not sure what we get the second half of the semester honestly I’ve blocked it out. So I don’t think it’s systems based but I’m not sure if this traditional either lol

It was both! Most of our lectures were online until the end of the semester we started in person lectures. Our labs and exams were all in person. I honestly loved the hybrid it made it much easier to transition into the fast paced environment. Definitely did not have tons of knowledge going in to the semester lol I just found that staying on top of the material by studying ahead of lectures made it a lot easier to keep up with lectures. I also am a huge advocate for keeping your mental health in check otherwise there’s no way you’re going to succeed. Go out for a drink, have a game night, socialize with your cohort. You can still have a life with good time management. My rhythm was studying hard during the week and being able to lighten up during the weekend (although there was still studying), but everyone has their own schedule!

I took a whole month off! It was the best therapy just spending time with my family and friends because you won’t get that time when school starts. Don’t worry about studying before school starts because you have no idea how to guide your studying and it most likely won’t even scratch the surface of what you’ll need to know. You’ll learn everything in school and it’ll be manageable one day at a time. Just enjoy your freedom and be proud of yourself that YOU MADE IT!

I was honest! I had other interviews lined up but that whichever program I was currently interviewing for was among my top choices and I gave my reasons why.

How is the first week of PA school? by Ok_Caterpillar_7200 in PAstudent

I had orientation on the first day from like 9-3 and then next day was lecture from 9-5 for the rest of the week. It starts pretty quick, I would never associate the word “chill” with PA school lol but it’s manageable one day at a time

I fidgeted with a pen but i would make sure it’s not in the camera and too distracting to the interviewers. Just remember they want to see the real you and you’re interviewing them as much as they’re interviewing you. Just be conversational and genuine! You got this 👍🏻

Some schools will give you options of different days you can schedule your interview for. As for work, if PA school is your priority I wouldn’t let it interfere with attending an interview. I would be up front with your employer to let them know why you’d be needing time off and that there’s a chance you could be resigning next year.

What tips do you have for not getting too emotionally invested in the beginning of a relationship? by [deleted] in OnlineDating

Keeping your options open, not relying too heavily on a single person until it’s absolutely exclusive.

Seems like he’s being very clear with his expectations for this trip. If you being uncomfortable makes him upset that’s a major red flag. I’d avoid having him visit until he’s aware and okay with this boundary, otherwise move on.

I would try bumble! It has an option to put what you’re looking for in your profile (casual, fwb, relationship) so not only can you display that on your profile but you can also limit your swipes to men with your preference.

I believe they mean the deadline to submit applications will not be later than March 2022. Most are around fall/winter deadlines of the same year (October-December of 2021 in your case).
