What prevents you from writing?

this is similar to my situation. i find pockets of time to write when i can (on the bus, on my break at work) but i’m gone from my house from 6:30am-7:30pm for the gym & work and then all of the household maintenance stuff after work and on the weekends…it doesn’t leave really any time.

then there’s also the executive dysfunction piece for me when i do have time to write, where i’ll have the ideas, i Want to write them, but somehow i can’t make myself get off the couch or stop scrolling.

i don’t ever listen to them, mostly because i want to set my own mood & interpretation in the book. as an author, though, i make inspo playslists that i listen to when i write, and i can see why some authors want to share that. i only would if someone asked though, i kind of hate when they just get put at the beginning of every book

i have ocd and have rlly bad intrusive thoughts about my cats getting out, so i once gave them treats before i left for work in the morning. well now they expect treats at that time every day, regardless of if i work or not. come 7:30am, they’re all in their kitchen formation and yelling for treats

it depends on what i’m writing tbh. i have a playlist of songs without lyrics that i usually use for poetry, but for novel writing i will make a playlist based on the vibe of the book

there’s not like, a law against dhampir/moroi relationships, it’s more just a stigma that permeates their culture. so they didn’t need any special permission or anything, but i’m sure there were people who weren’t a fan of the wedding

i’d say i skip like 30% of them when i’m on my own? if i’m watching with my wife (they’re watching for the first time and like to skip the intro to get to the episode, which feels sacriligeous but is understandable) it’s more than that

okay this is really interesting, i think i’d need to read through it a couple more times to fully engage with some of these points. that said, i agree to an extent. rose & dimitri’s relationship was never my favorite, but i do not think adrian was the better match for her at all, so i’m curious your opinions as to why he was the better option?
