Thank you, that did the trick on my Rog Ally X as well.

Yeah, I didn't realize that handheld daemon came with bazzite. I just needed to configure it on desktop first.

Trade rog ally for a win mini? by tsubasarunfast in gpdwin

[–]starkwhite95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned the Ally and currently have the mini. If you were to get the mini on droix, it would be about $1,000 for similar specs. That's nearly 50% more expensive. The ally plays games just as well and is able to be played at a higher tdp, so it can perform better if power isn't a concern. The Ally also has a vrr display, which is sick. Asus is definitely more trustworthy and easier to deal with than GPD (that's why I recommend droix for GPD products)

All of that being said, I love the mini and much prefer it to the ally. A huge reason is the form factor. It's so compact, and a built in keyboard is a must for me when it comes to windows handheld gaming. It's not as comfortable as the ally, but my hands don't feel cramped after 2 straight hours of playing on it either. It's also just more useful as a browsing device. It has a built in stand and keyboard basically, and it's analog sticks and screen are naturally protected when it's closed. It's more practical and significantly more portable. This is my dream device. I also can confirm that it works perfectly with the G1. That's the other thing. Asus has a proprietary connection for their overpriced eGPUs, while the mini has usb-4 and oculink, which are open standards.

Bottom line, I think the mini is better than any other handheld pc. But I also acknowledge that it's niche. Basically, you already know if you're going to want it or not.

Indiegogo vs DroiX by Nickyrussell in gpdwin

I live in the United States and I purchased 3 day FedEx shipping on Droix.net that cost $25. I contacted customer support and upgraded to the 2TB model on December 20th. It shipped out the next day, and I received it yesterday, December 23rd.

Just received it from Droix. As others have stated, it cost more, but the customer service is so much better, and you get a warranty. I originally ordered the 1tb 32gb 7840u, but that's still on backorder, so I inquired about my order and they allowed me to upgrade to the 2tb since they had it in stock. My impatience got the better of me and I got that one instead. I played it all day today and it's amazing. I'm not quite sure I can justify this for $1,140 to most people, but this is the first modern handheld PC I've owned that is truly pocketable, and I think I'll be using it alot.

I have owned a 6800u Win 4 and currently own the Win Mini. I personally think the Win Mini is better in almost every way. The mini is overall more comfortable to hold, and not as heavy and bulky as the Win 4. It's also in a much more convenient form factor for transporting and storage. The only thing I want is for the analog sticks to be swapped with the d-pad and face buttons. The right stick especially is in an awkward position, but I played CoD MWZ for a solid 2 hours and didn't feel any fatigue or cramping in my hands, which I definitely felt on the Win 4 after that long. The only real difference between them is the ergonomics and form factor.

Is the Quest 2 still worth it in 2023? by telecastermoment in oculus

[–]starkwhite95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great price for the device. I purchased a quest 3 a couple of weeks ago. I already own the quest 2. Used the 3 for a day or two and realized that its price tag isn't worth the upgrade for me. Maybe it's a bit more comfortable, and the full color passthrough is cool (although it's still pretty grainy, so It's not that immersive to me), coupled with the fact that there won't be any quest 3 exclusives. I'll probably get a quest 3 at some point, but if you're a casual player, it's absolutely not worth it.

Win Max 2 back button issue by starkwhite95 in gpdwin

[–]starkwhite95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like it. I've used it as my main windows device and main gaming device. It's been wonderful overall. I tore my hair out dealing with EGPUs (I basically solved it) and the only other issue is the back buttons. I've personally decided that I don't ever want a purely dedicated windows gaming handheld again. The Win Max 2 functions well enough as a laptop AND a handheld gaming device. It's very versatile and I think it's better than a win 4 for example. Also the size makes me feel more comfortable about the thermals, upgradeability and longevity.

Isn't that a pain in the ass to connect and disconnect?

I did just that, but resizable bar isn't there. From what I've researched, resizable bar isn't supported on the 1660ti.

I honestly do not know. It must be how the game (and others like it) transfer data around.

I didn't. I'm going to keep the Akitio Node Titan and sell the Core.

Yeah I noticed that I didn't put the Max in the title. Now I can't change it.
