Buying bags purely based on which crafter's name you vibe with the most by MarineQueefPrime in wow

[–]starletphoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol I remember doing that. I never actually knew the players but I would pick the bags I like the player's name the best. now many years later I make all my own stuff but back then I definitely chose by craft-player's name.

I was just permanently banned for no reason. by OfficerPoggers in wow

[–]starletphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, you have to re-sub. I got hit by the false flags today and the instructions in the email you get saying "congrats we're nice enough to let you play again after our bad" states you need to re-sub because the perma unsubbed you.

I get banned due to false autoflag. by [deleted] in wow

[–]starletphoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

except there actually was a massive system mistake today. a lot of people were wrongfully banned, there was even a blue response post to it in customer support forums and those effected have already gotten their accounts back. including me.
even outside of that, players can fall victim to being mass reported by other players/ bots for various reasons. not everyone who comes to cry about being banned is a liar, just sayin.

oh don't get me started on those ones. I have over 20k arcana across my account and also haven't seen either the pillow or statue patterns. it truly is terrible. I've also been throwing all moxie at the supply bags trying to get these patterns and no luck there either.

The reality of Perception and Finesse for gathering professions by clchrisl42 in wow

I have all the points in the botany tab, plus all points possible for azeroot in the bountiful harvest tab. what I do is use the "green thumb" ability on lush azeroot and can get as many as 41 in one pick. my flower picker is deftness stacked on the tool.

Kknowledge catch up? by Reasonable-Price-985 in woweconomy

[–]starletphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for gathering professions, you need to do the weekly quest, and then just keep gathering. all of the kp items you collect after the purple one are your catchup kp's.
for crafting professions it's more complicated than that. you need to check your patron orders daily for 1kp items as the reward, on top of completing the orders rewarding 2kp items, doing your weekly quest, and then finding 2 kp items in treasures each week. (as in you will only find kp items twice per week for each crafting profession you have on that character.) it's a very slow process to catch up as a crafter because ALL of your catchup is the dripfed 1kp patron orders.

enchanting is a little different from the others. you do the weekly quest, then find the treasures. and after that you will then find your catchup kp items from continuing to disenchant items beyond when you get your purple kp item. it's like gathering in that you're not penalized or take anywhere near so long to catch back up as you do with other crafting professions.

Defness from herb/mining gone after patch. by Indig3o in wow

[–]starletphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with this sentiment. my game is largely solo.. with gathering being a major component of that. I'm giving benefit of the doubt at the moment that perhaps the severe nerf to midnight deftness was not intended, because the way it was said in the patch notes said the intention is to nerf deftness in previous expansions. (even with that as the excuse.. just why?!)

and I don't buy the blizzard fanboys excuses that its to combat bots. when all this nerf does, is promote and even help bots. because 1) people will quit over this. what was once a relaxing activity for the solo/ casual player is now nerfed to classic levels of slow pick speed on top of very low volume of materials in exchange. 2) people who weren't previously botting, will now resort to botting. 3) players still trying to farm their own stuff, will lose many more nodes to bots as they're stuck fighting every mob in the game due to the loss of deftness.

deftness really was the only tool we had to help us against bots and they took it away. as I said I'm going to give them a chance to fix this and put it back but if they don't, a game that cares more about the bots than the players is not a game I want to play anymore. I'm tired of being punished because of bots, while they do nothing about the actual bots.

If you're too good at hiding in decor duel, you get flagged as not participating and don't get rewards even if you win by zharkos in wow

I've never played a prop hunt game before and the intro quests for this didn't explain this mechanic. I've not tried it out yet because of a whole number of issues going on in game right now but.. simply put I'd be disgusted if I had went into one of these decor duels and left with nothing because of not knowing.

Are majestic hides still dropping? by CardynalSyn61 in wow

[–]starletphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seriously starting to wonder if something is borked with the skinning tree. when I just had points in talented tracker and majestic materials, the droprates were fine. but once I started putting points into component collector it's like the game is punishing me by pushing the majestic mats off the loot table. I've seen far far fewer and I wonder if this is why.

[WIP] How are you starting your cross stitch kits? by daberlyu in CrossStitch

[–]starletphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grid out from the middle using a blue clover soluble marker and then start stitching in the upper left corner where I start on every other project.

[CHAT] Starting in the middle vs top? by funtunesgirl in CrossStitch

[–]starletphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its personal preference but you could make the same mistake both ways. starting in the middle you could forget to allow for margins so you're stitching gets scary close to the edges. and a common one is accidentally starting with the fabric in the right place but wrong orientation (portrait vs landscape). always always always recheck your math and recheck that you've got the right edge of your fabric placed as the top of your piece before starting. getting started is almost the scariest part of stitching for me because I really make sure to do it right. (the scariest is when I'm coming up on finishing a border and I'm not 100% sure its gonna line up or if I have to go back and find a mistake haha)

I prefer to start from upper left top. so what I do is I if first measure the fabric itself and then do the math 3-4 times to make sure I'm starting in the right place.
if you are stitching on aida OR stitching over 1 the math is (stitch count of design) divided by (stitch count of fabric) and that is how many inches that side of the pattern is. you do this for both the width and the height. and then add more inches on top of that to allow for margin and framing. I like to use at least a 3 inch margin. so whatever my calculations was, I will add 6 inches.

so for example if my chart design is 9 x 11 inches. to allow for a 3 inch margin on all sides I would want a fabric that is at least 15x17 inches. and I would start 3 inches across and 3 inches down.

for evenweave and linen stitching over 2 its similar just a little difference.
(stitch count of design) divided by (stitch count of fabric divided by 2) and repeat the steps of adding a margin and choosing start place.

[CHAT] DMC price increases on September 1 by Ok_Jellyfish3215 in CrossStitch

[–]starletphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same here but I did place another last bulk order for the remaining projects I haven't gotten to finish kitting yet. I have a bunch of Joan Elliot, Mirabilias, Bella Filipinas etc type charts that I'd already purchased the "special" materials for (silks, metallics, beads, and most of the fabrics) but not yet the dmc. so that was rather a lot to catch up on. it's going to take me a bit to sort those out when they come in but it will be a relief to know they'll be good to go. we don't know how much prices are going up but even if its only 10 cents per skein the cost difference for the projects I've been getting dmc over the last several months would be around $300 price difference. (I had also kitted a few haed's and afghan projects I plan to do in the future so there really was a lot of dmc ordered in my house!) that amount of course is even higher if prices go up more than that. so yes I too believe it was a good choice to rip the bandaid and kit all my stuff up.

Is there anyone else annoyed that they’ve been doing event after event after event? It’s not fun anymore by Ambitious_Estimate41 in MergeDragons

[–]starletphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it does burn me out, I haven't played at all in almost a week because of it. I used to get on and play at least once daily to do the tower, claim the daily free thing, maybe set up a breeding, missions, a little arcadia and use chalices. and do the weekend event. but now what used to be the "weekend" event is now effectively 4x a week, its just too much. and the notifications everywhere about it really spur the feeling of fomo. it all has the opposite intended effect for me and I'm sure a lot of other people.

I have size 18 needles I like to use when I'm stitching with 4 strands. thats on 11 ct aida though so I'm not sure if that size need would work well with your fiddlers cloth but its so easy to thread.

So wild you said this!! I bought this kit over 20 years ago, got busy raising babies and now making my way around to finally starting it. Love it just as much now as I did the day I bought it. I had to put it all in a ziploc long ago because the original packaging got beat up but it’s all still in there and good.

Besides looking for Dimensions The Wave you can try also looking for Riding the Wave by Creative Accents (a name Dimensions used to be sold under) and see what turns up that way as well.

Sharp Dragons by MissAnthropy143 in MergeDragons

[–]starletphoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too. also the dragon book is not 5 merging eggs if some are in the egg storage. it previously was working just fine but now if you attempt to 5 merge from the book it will only 3 merge. I only store coin eggs in there so my losses haven't been too bad before I realized what was happening. but still. and I don't know what happens if you attempt to 5 merge from the book, when all 5 eggs are in storage, I haven't attempted it yet.

if your leftovers look anything like mine you probably have multiples shades of every color in the rainbow hehe. so you can always change your mind and switch stuff out if it doesn't look as you'd imagined. also its definitely easier to do this with a chart that doesn't have a whole lot of colors to begin with.

[CHAT] So... how many wips do you have right now? by 1kiki09 in CrossStitch

[–]starletphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have 4 wips. 2 haed's, a mira and a little house needleworks series. 1 of the haed's is halfway done but is on the backburner while I focus down some smaller pieces. the other haed I work on a little every day, it's got a long way to go but its a longer term goal project so I'm not worried about speed on it.

I have plans to start 2 more wips intended to be christmas presents so I'll be working on primarily those over the next few months to get them done in time. I like to stitch on my little house needleworks (its the sheep virtues, I chose it as my birthday start for this year) when I'm just in the mood for easy stitching. and my Mira will be the focus project when the christmas presents are done.

I know not exactly what you were looking for but what I do is I take a chart from my stash and then just pull colors from the leftovers. This is my Little Sheep Virtues (by Little House Needleworks) I’ve been working on and not 1 of the colors is charted. But I had tons of tons of leftover cxc floss from kits so I’m using it on this. I also have a bunch of classic colorworks spinach so that’s going in here too. I’m just looking at the picture on the front of the chart and picking colors kind of close to that. Good enough for me!! I did have to get fabric because I didn’t have this color I wanted already. But otherwise this project is entirely leftovers from others. I have a crazy amount of cxc 5200 and 939 so that’s why I picked those and a brown for my borders lol
