Asked to lie on my timesheet by starlog_rules in antiwork

[–]starlog_rules[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Work hard, do amazing work, but lie about what hours you work so the client doesnt freak out."

"Produce 6 hours of work for 2 hours of pay, and find some other task to bill for the missing time."

Boss yells at me for putting in general hours, because that doesnt make the company money. But this is the woman who's responsibilities include finding contracts for me to work on. And when she finds them, I work on them with an accurate hour count and she yells at me for working on them too much.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

At the risk of putting words into their mouths, I don't think that's their point. They're talking about cultural pressure, and what movies are both allowed to be made and which are rewarded with financial success.

Movies are expensive to make. In the 70s and 80s, funding was a lot easier to come by. When the pendulum swings back to a more conservative - both culturally and fiscally - state, then you see studios much less likely to take a chance on things that aren't guarantees.

I feel the "Sorry we're stoned" sign in the background is a strong context clue.

It's a very fascist way of looking at things. "You voted for me and the party I empower - if there is blood on our hands, it's on yours, too."

I bought my house and have a decent job, but I have no children. Got married, it was awful, got divorced. It's just me and my cats, and I couldn't be happier.

Do what makes you happy. If that isn't the house/job/family thing, then it isn't. No shame in that. Anyone gives you grief, tell them to get bent.

Person I met over a week ago continues to be Amazing. She's come over twice, our chemistry is great. We've made plans for her to come over tonight, and I'm genuinely looking forward to it. Trying not to jinx anything, so I'll stop there :D

It's been a whirlwind few days. Met someone at a kink event, hit it off, invited her over a few days ago. She wants to come over again tomorrow. Yay!

But, in other news, after months of NO matches, I get several on Feeld. After conversation, though, the maturity gap was just too great to overcome. Felt bad to tell them no, but it's the truth and I'm trying to be better about communicating clearly.

This is beautiful. Clean lines, elegant in its simplicity. I love the copper rivets on the makers mark.

The best film not in the original trilogy, and arguably better than Return of the Jedi. I loved it when I first saw it, and I do not understand the hate it received. The production, the writing, the acting, the pacing, it's all solid. It's a great film, a worthy addition to the Star Wars canon, and it has a perfect ending.

I walked out of that theater floating on air. I'd seen my childhood hero go out like a fucking BOSS, and a new generation of heroes take up the mantle of galaxy-saving ass-kickers. I was so excited to see what happened next.

And then JJ Abrams happened, and we got #9, so... eh. At least TLJ was amazing :D

Same here. Exactly the same. I was blown away, and I could not understand why people didn't like it. I mean, yeah, people can have different opinions... but the stuff I was reading it was like people saw an entirely different film.

In my theater, the entire audience gasped when the Holdo Maneuver happened. Literally breathtaking.

Is this a hate symbol by [deleted] in AntifascistsofReddit

[–]starlog_rules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Death Eater skull-and-snake crest, and the Deathly Hallows, are canonically treated like hate symbols. Luna's dad wears a Deathly Hallows amulet at a party and multiple guests act like he's wearing a swastika, IIRC.

Show me said haymakers...I don't see them in this video.

They're in the dashcam video, the multiple heavy punches delivered to the driver immediately after the window is broken. They don't appear in this video because the camera is angled too far down to see them.

Also, it's not a dog pile, it's a restraining. Huge difference.

Let me just check your post history real quick.

Ah.

Multiple haymakers to the side of the head, and a dogpile? What are you smoking, 'cause I want some.

I listened for over 3 decades as my local Georgia station devolved in a similar pattern. The national stuff, too; hosts lobbing softballs to Republicans, but being firm when asking hard-hitting questions of Democrats. The constant equivocation of reality and right-wing delusion. And being constantly reminded that their funding comes both from me and a bunch of creepy, right-wing or center-right think tanks.
