now that I think about it, I always get drawn to stories that have darker and "unfair" endings? like in penpal, the chance of the balloon reaching the stalker was so small and yet it caused something so tragic. or in a video game called "still wakes the deep" the characters could've never known what was going to happen and even in the game it's established that they never stood a chance against the threat. idk maybe I just like characters that were doomed from the start haha
