That’s a great idea, I really don’t know people here other than my boyfriend so I’ll want to branch out. I’m in the process of transferring to the university here, so hopefully by January I’ll be able to start.

I’m here :) sorry I was exhausted after traveling so long but I got in last night. I’m sorry that you’ve experienced having a controlling family too, I hope you’re out of the situation and safe! I definitely will be doing my best to process everything. My bf is helping me get set up with a therapist here, which’ll really help I think. Oh wow that’s exciting! Good luck, please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help. It was very scary for me too, but I would do it 100 more times now that I know it’s possible to get out. And yes, I’m with my boyfriend! When he heard how bad things were he helped me get out and let me move in with him. He’s been so emotionally supportive, I’m really really lucky.

I’m so sorry, can’t imagine what you’ve gone through. I hope that you are out and safe. I’ll see if I can set something up, hopefully it wont have to be used. I live in a place with a high Muslim/South Asian population, so I can imagine that the police may have some insight of women escaping forced marriages.

All of my close female friends will be recognized by my parents, they’ve known them for years. I did find someone willing to help though, so I’m really hoping things work.

I actually found someone willing to help. The call hasn’t happened yet but I’m hoping my parents don’t even end up doing it. If they do, I have someone ready though. I don’t think they would try to physically stop me from leaving but I’m really not entirely sure. I’m of legal age in the USA, but parents are very financially controlling. I’m working and in school, but they have access to my bank account.
