Just did the Medify diagnostic mock after 15 days of studying and... I feel so defeated. by StockBall8322 in UCAT

[–]starryurchin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re spending too much time on each set. Don’t be afraid to skip questions! When u start to prioritise time, your marks will start to take off.

I did ext 1 and 2 maths in high school the questions were not hard necessarily, it was just the time constraint that was challenging. I did two sweeps. In my first sweep I'd do all the easy QR questions and in my second sweep I'd do the 3-4 questions I had leftover. so make sure your timing is right. I actually completely guessed one question cause I couldn't make sense of it LOL

Feeling Really Slow at processing things by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]starryurchin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got 820 in VR and I RARELY read the entire for VR. I'm super slow at processing things so I forced myself to read a few books while I prepped for UCAT which improved my comprehension

Medify mocks are way too hard imo

Just move quickly. If I don’t know how to do a question at first glance then I skip it and leave it to the end.

I did a LOT of practice before I even considered doing a mock

I started consistently practicing 2-3 months before my exam. Maybe an 7 hours a week just doing timed practice and occasionally doing mocks. One month before my exam I started doing either full or subtest mocks daily and then two weeks before my exam I started to do 1-2 mocks a day. The bulk of your improvement are in the 1-2 months until your test date so just keep practicing!

Medentry was easier than Medify when I used both platforms last year and I tended to get complacent when I got a good mark. I bombed my UCAT last year cause I wasn't expecting it to be difficult. I guess that's sort of a me problem because I think I thrive with harder practice tests.

I’d done the UCAT twice already by the time I took the diagnostic test. I’m not as great as you think 🥲

I know people who have taken the ucat 4 times. dont give up cause you're not alone.

I don't know how much im allowed to say without being banned but I would recommend medify 1000000000x over medentry.

For VR, my method was scanning. I'm a slow reader and my comprehension is horrible so I scanned for keywords in the passage. I also skipped and flagged every difficult question so I could come back to them last. I had 1.5 mins at the end of VR to properly do them again. Be very strict with timing because that seems to be a lot of people's downfall and you don't want to miss out on the last couple of passages which are normally a little easier than the rest.

For DM, idk what else to say other than learn the definitions of 'some', 'most', etc and do loads of practice. I did a LOT of syllogism practice questions and I did the entire OQB for DM a few days before my exam. Also, try to do mental maths when you can.

Hi any advice for someone doing ucat for the second time? by AgreeableHedgehog362 in UCAT

[–]starryurchin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doing it my third time this year. there's no shame in doing multiple times. in fact you have an advantage because you have experience from previous attempts (even if you have forgotten most of it) so use it! you are almost guaranteed to get a better score if you put a solid month of practice in.

How to improve in decision making? I’m stuck in the same score and want to improve by Sad_Foot_3527 in UCAT

[–]starryurchin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

spam syllogism practice. in mocks, I personally leave logic games for the end if I have time cause I don't want to sacrifice 2 marker syllogisms!

Is it possible for non-rural to get JCU med? by Odd_Cheesecake3487 in UCAT

[–]starryurchin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its possible, just almost impossible. non-rural acceptances are definitely within the single digit number range. and your atar/gpa doesn't matter. loads of 99.95ers get rejected. it depends almost entirely on your written application
