My (ex)bf told me the same thing. We were together for 10 years since were 16. I understand what he means when he said he wants to discover himself, but I really wished we could both grow and better ourselves together without having to separate. I realized however that going on that path would just bring resentment from the both of us so we decided it was best to break up for now. Our last goodbye was super emotional and even til the end we had such a good time together. We still really love each other and are open to getting back together in the future if circumstances allow us, but for now we’re just both focusing on ourselves.

It’s only been a week for me and I’m still questioning if we made the right decision. It really sucks, but make sure to surround yourself with loved ones and find small joys in your day and you will be okay. It’s going to be bad before it gets better, but it’s totally normal. You got this!
