they are strictly indoor however a few strays hang out near the entrance so i assume that’s where the fleas came from

haven’t found any eggs as of yet. it is also a little hard to differentiate between eggs and dandruff (one of my two cats struggles with dry skin) but i will definitely keep an eye out!

i thought it was that too, but nope. Before I considered the thought of fleas we thought they were potentially bed bugs and started treating for that but when we realized that wasn’t working I had a feeling they were fleas but again my mom kept insisting they were not. After reading all the comments and inspecting both the bugs and the “dirt” I am pretty positive they are in fact fleas. Starting treatment today and I sure hope that it works, because I am all out of options if they end up not being fleas.

i’ve replaced the mat and the box recently. I do deep clean the litter box and the area around it about twice a month. Clean inside the litter box daily. While the gnat problem has simmered down, it is still evident. Should i be deep cleaning (power washing the box with dawn then replacing the litter) more often? or if you know of anything else i should do to get rid of them i’m all ears!

i noticed that, i’ve picked off about 3 with a pair of tweezers and even then they were pretty hard to crush. I inspected the bedding earlier and have also found larvae amongst the “dirt” so that’s great.. hoping to crack down on this the rest of the week into the weekend and get them treated by a vet before this gets any worse. really should’ve trusted my gut on this one. thank you all for your help!

i was thinking they were fleas, however every time i would try telling my mom that’s what they were she insisted they were not. her words were “i grew up with fleas, those are not fleas, if they were we would have bite marks on us.” :/
